RJ - Slayer of Trolls (hawk5391yahoocom) I've never seen an episode of Doctor Who, so I was surprised that I liked this story so much.

But I still liked this better:

Donald | 157 comments It's a pretty standard Doctor Who story, so as an aficionado it was of miles interest but not out of the ordinary.

If memory serves the episode Neil did end up writing that got made was one of the most creative Doctor Who stories in recent seasons, which makes this one a touch more ordinary in comparison.

Bryan | 310 comments I enjoyed this one, it could have been a very good, if pretty typical, Doctor Who episode.
The Gaiman episode I remember, the one with the cybermen, didn't leave me very impressed. I probably would have preferred this one.

Donald | 157 comments Bryan, this is the episode I was thinking of - .

I actually forgot he wrote Nightmare in Silver (the Cyberman one), so obviously I consider it fairly forgettable by definition. :)

Mike (mikekeating) | 242 comments I loved this one. The characters feel remarkbly true to the TV versions; something that isn't always the case with tie-in fiction. (I've read some Star Trek novels that don't feel at all like they're in the Trek universe.) Gaiman writes Eleven well; I've seen rumors that Moffat wanted to get him to write a Capaldi episode and it was a pity that he never did. I think the episodes he wrote are among the scattered handful of Matt Smith episodes that aren't absolute crap.

The added bonus of Gaiman writing an Eleven story for print rather than broadcast is that it isn't dragged down by Smith's acting ability, or lack thereof most of the time. I'm not that much of an Eleven fan.
