I apologise for my absence! This month has been crazy, with my neighbourhood having to evacuate due to flood warnings, and me starting up some online Accounting and Financial Management classes (just trying to get the last few credits for my diploma). It has been busy that's for sure! But I've read up to page 252 which is about halfway. Let's discuss!

**SPOILER WARNING: MAKE SURE YOU'VE READ UP TO THE END OF CHAPTER 5 (WHICH IS PAGE 252 IN MY EDITION).**

A LOT has happened since we've last discussed! Holland is back in the picture, which I am quite happy about even if we don't know his agenda yet. I'm really fascinated with his story and how he is replenishing White London and in the process (I believe) reviving Black London. This magic that is giving him power, do you think it is to be trusted?

I'm happy to say that I have been enjoying Lila's character a bit more since the beginning. She hasn't had one of those moments where she randomly murders a person without knowing who they are, or even taking the time to care about it after, so that's good. I'm actually hoping her and Kell end up together, and the point we are at in the book right now it is very intense. We just ended with Kell running out of Calla's shop after discovering that Delilah Bard is back in London.

I'm also still very interested in learning more about Alucard. What did he do that's made Kell and Rhy so nervous about him?

The Essen Tasch should be very exciting! I'm hoping the magical battles won't disappoint. So now Lila wants to participate, and we know that Kell will be participating under a disguise. Do you think they will end up having to battle each other? I mean, it's not like it is to the death so I don't think it would be too big of a deal...

I still enjoy the segments with Kell the most, how about you guys?

Share your thoughts!

I'm going to try and read this book a bit faster now, although my classes seem to be taking up a lot of time.

P.S. I'm not sure what editions you guys have, but does your copy seem to have a very bendy cover? The first book didn't for me, but for some reason this one bends open way too much :/ Not a big deal, but it's such a beautiful book and I reaaaallly didn't want it to bend!

Dimitris (dimitris_lianos) I'm happy we're continuing, I admit I reached this exact page a week ago and have been waiting for this very post to read more, haha. Meanwhile I started buddy-reading another novel with a Read-A-Theme group over on Twitter, omg I need help! ;)
But this is the pleasure of buddy-reading! Please don't feel bad for having unpredicted things coming your way, we are well up to date in the book anyway, no one's chasing us :)))

It's such a great book so far! No, the Black London power is not to be trusted, Holland either. These pages make him out to be this great guy who picked up the crown from the evil Danes and is literally bringing Life back to White London, but I don't trust him one bit. Lock the gates, Red Londoners!

Alucard is soooo amazing, actually I'm shipping him and Lila, not Lila and Kell, heheh.... But our Kell obviously cares a great deal for her, the way he stormed off Calla's shop. And of course the Kell chapters are the best ones for me!

Even more interesting than the upcoming Essen Tasch were for me the chapters at the Edge of Arnes. Wonderful world-building by miss Schwab there! (and I'm watching her explain her world-building techniques on her YouTube channel, very interesting stuff!) I was a bit sad when they left these far-away places to return to London for the Games, Lila was far more "normal" away from people.

I can't wait to read the rest in the next 10 days! And yes, I take good care not to over-bend my Titan paperback edition cause the spine is emitting strange sounds of discomfort and I'll go crazy if it breaks in half! :O

PB (theeternaltbr) I looove reading you guys reactions!!!! I just had a shirt custom made because I still have a book hangover after the third book!

Anyway, a part of me agrees with you Dimitri, I couldn't help to ship Alucard and Lila... till the end, haha.

But I can see you and Jay are up to witness some big suprises very soon 😉😉😉

I actually finished the book a few days ago! Just taking a bit of time to process everything before I write the final discussion haha! That's so cool you had a custom made t-shirt!

Yes, Holland is not to be trusted! I still really like him as a character though ;)
The Edge of Arnes was indeed some great world building! I would love to see (maybe in the 3rd book?) some more exploration of Red London, or possibly even see a different part of the world.

Not sure what point you're at right now, I finished the book a few days ago, but the Essen tasch was pretty exciting! I really enjoyed it, though I will admit there were a few fights skipped over that I would have liked to read in more detail.

Dimitris (dimitris_lianos) I'm still haf-way through... I HAD to finish another very long "deep" novel that took me weeks to get through and bored me to tears... Soooo happy to get back to Young Adult territory!

I'm in the middle of Final Exams for my University too, I'm studying 20th Century Architecture hard till June 9, but I'm hoping to finish this book before May ends! :))) I'm about to pick it up again after two weeks as I click "post" for this message, hehe. I missed Kell, Lila and Alucard so much.

And I was very glad to see you rated it 4 stars, it gives me even more motive!

PS: Damn, I was spoiled big-time by some random fan art :(

Man, STOP looking at fanart. Ugh - a disadvantage of being so into a book, you find yourself googling about it, and then you immediately regret it because of SPOILERS.
Hope you did well on your finals!

Yeah, I'm very happy about the shirt. It follows the color scheme of the covers - the 3/4 sleeves are red, the body itself is white, and the text is in black - it says:

As Tascen.
As Travars.
Because...
Sanct...
I don't want
to say
Anoshe
