Fallen, he put an image of it at the top of the thread.

/book/show/6...

Sarah | 3915 comments Ah, thanks Dj. It's not visible on the app.

Brenda Clough (brendaclough) | 964 comments Remember that you are you. All those reviewers have their opinion, yours may be entirely different. God alone only knows that you can find people who like, or dislike, anything. Thor has fans, and also people who hate Norse gods with long blond hair. There are people who think Shakespeare was a hack. You could begin to read it (is there a Look Inside feature on the listing at Amazon) and give it a whirl, and if it's a bore you don't finish it.

Sarah | 3915 comments To be honest, I absolutely loved the Fallen series. I read it several times.

Bill's Chaos (wburris) It is tagged with paranormal and romance, therefore it is probably boring.

Jennifer (azalee) | 12 comments I would recommend especially if you like reading YA to check with which top reviewers you share likings or dislikings. Some reviewers are concerned about coherency and plot holes or dislike love at first sight while others are more lenient and like different things.

I doubt that you intended to sound rude--am I missing an in-joke? Sarcasm is a subtle art, I sometimes miss it.

Let's see. Here's some excerpts from the most liked review that are not so subjective. They're either lies, or they're truly terrible things about the book.

Luce's first encounter with Daniel results in him flipping her off. After that he ignores her, rejects her, accuses her of stalking him, ditches her, suggests that she is annoying, accuses her of being an intruder... the list goes on.

The ONE time. I mean it. ONE FUCKING TIME that Luce sticks up to Daniel and tells him not to treat her like an idiot (the idiot that she is) he kisses her... then she immediately stops requesting that he treat her like an adult and an equal and he goes right back to muttering cryptic things without explaining them

Oh. And ANOTHER thing! She obsessively stalks him, against all odds seeks him out again and again. Finally, when he DOES tell her the truth, what does she do? She runs away.

Oh, and this is a bit more subjective, but I'm willing to give the reviewer the benefit of the doubt. Honestly, this book sounds like something that almost makes Stephanie Meyer look feminist.

This book is almost an argument against feminism. To make the boy love you, you must accept his treatment and patiently wait out his scorn and derision. You're supposed to obsess over the boy of your dreams and imagine who he is in complete contradiction to the person he's shown you to be. Somehow this is supposed to be romantic. This is supposed to be real love.

TST, are you looking for something a little more spoilery i.e. kind of what the arc is through the books? Or are you looking for impressions/analysis of the most common review buzz words?

Well there are people who like the trope "the guy seems to despise the girl then changes his mind".

I wouldn't personally recommend the book because I disliked it. That was probably one of the first books that made me aware to not just check the average rating and the number of ratings since I am not easily pleased.

Ah, I see now. Tone is so hard to figure out in text sometimes :)

Dj | 2364 comments One difference between who sells and who doesn't, may have nothing to do with if it is better written so much as if it is better marketed.

Publishers spend a fair bit of money on new King or Koontz books, which no one self publishing can match.

I fully agree with you and one thing for which I've noticed is that some of the Self-published books are Just as good and sometimes even better than the ones by well-known authors.

The thing I like about both Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ as well as for Amazon is the fact that you can get do deals on the books and sometimes even get books for free or near free in order to entice readers to give the authors work a try.
