I thought Uprooted was terrific (as well as the Maria Snyder books). And most of the books on that list are not my sort of books - I'm not a huge paranormal reader myself. But these are not what I would call paranormal. Also, the Harper Connelly series by Charlaine Harris are pretty good and quick reads. They actually are more paranormal, but I like Harris.

I love Maria Snyder too, CassieV! She has good several good series.
The Final Empire by Brandon Sanderson is very good. I loved that series. I've only read the first 3 books, because the second 3 books are set in another time and are about other characters. I'm planning to read the next books of this series soon.
I don't really read paranormal books either, the exception is the Kate Daniels series. I do love fantasie books and fairy tales.

Just chiming in, love love love Uprooted -one of my top reads for 2015 even though I read it in early Jan.
Maria V. Snyder is a fave of mine so I really enjoyed Touch of Power (Healer #1) though I've heard others who had concerns about how female MC was treated by male MC...
I vaguely remember loving Sabriel -only vaguely because I did read it in the 90s lol, waaaayyyy b4 GR.

i used the instructions from DG to try and find The Eye of God on the Globetrotting Techo Adventures books - and get this in the results:
/shelf/users...
but when I scroll through all the shelves - i can't specifically locate it - am i going nuts?
Dee wrote: "... but when I scroll through all the shelves - i can't specifically locate it - am i going nuts?"
Nope, I couldn't find it either.
There is a 'globetrotting-adventures' for 1 user but when you clicked it, no users are found. I think what could've happened was that the user listed under 'globetrotting-techno-adventures' first shelved it as 'globetrotting-adventures' but then changed his shelf name but the GR couldn't cope with the change?
In any case, I will list this book on the spreadsheet so you're good for this one.

Yikes, my apologies, ladies!

Sorry, Jayme, with challenges, we are actually strict with books being shelved on particular required shelves (unlike the monthly shelf reads where as long as it fits with the spirit of the shelf we'd accept it).

I saw that some of James Patterson's books were listed in who dun it, can we read any of the series or just the ones listed? Per my previous question, I am thinking just the ones listed. Just wanted to check.

* A Countess Below Stairs by Eva Ibbotson - page 23
* Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins - page 22 (Catching Fire on page 23)
* And Only to Deceive by Tasha Alexander - page 22
* Rosemary and Rue by Seanan McGuire - page 22
I'll check if these are in the Google spreadsheet yet, and ask for them to be confirmed, if they're not.

Maybe Rebecca or The Hunger Games? I'm not sure I'd classify either as romance, genre-wise, but they're on the right shelf.
ETA: Oops, a little late, guess I didn't refresh before posting.

There are several Harry Potter books on this shelf. Not all of them are there though. I love the Harry Potter series :) If you like fantasy and haven't read them yet, then I recommend them.
Did you ever read Gone with the Wind? A 5 star rating for me. It is a big fat book. It's about the American civil war. I loved the main character. She is a very strong character.
If you want a book with a mysterious, then Rebecca might be something for you. Lovely writing.
I loved the The Tea Rose. It's part of a series of 3 books. It's about Fiona and Joe. They are in love. But things don't go the way they planned and they loose sight of each other. They both are poor and both are trying to make something of themselves.
Maybe All the Ugly and Wonderful Things? Though I hesitate to list it. The writing is very good, but it is about a young adult and a little girl who fall in love. That feels wrong to me, and is the reason why I gave it only 3 stars. If you can look past the adult and young girl thing then you might like it since this book is not the typical romance book. I know many people loved this book, so that is why I post it here.

I second that! It's a lot of work to manage this, and I'm impressed!
