I am in the U.S. with Bernice L. McFadden's Nowhere Is a Place, a novel I have owned for a couple of years, and wanted to read for even longer. McFadden's writing is as elegant as ever.

I just started Tropic Moon in Gabon in the 1930s. I am getting a distinct Heart of Darkness vibe, with everyone talked about as "natives" and "all blacks look the same". It's only 133pp... but this may be a struggle. Open mind for a good story and all that, but it makes me switch off straight away.

Let me know if you'd recommend it - I see my library has it...you having fun in Nepal? It's probably pretty warm, even though it's only March although you just came from Aussie summer.

It’s been up and down - picked something nasty up when I first arrived, so I’ve been really congested almost the whole time. But school’s great, one of my best friends visited, and a couple of days ago I attended my first Nepali wedding! And the weather’s improving each week. On balance, I can’t complain.
