Eldarwen | 5004 comments So quiet in here o.O

Are you all enjoying your books? :-)

Got plans for the weekend?

Oh, and happy women's day :-)

message 652: by Katie (new)

Katie | 230 comments It is quiet in here! I haven't been able to find much computer time lately, but I'm reading and will post some stuff soon. :)

Weekend plans here are cleaning, errands and cleaning some more. I might try to catch some of the Paralympics if I can.

Kelly (louloo) | 314 comments I’m loving the series I’ve found by Charlotte Fallowfield. So funny and easy to read.

Mother’s Day this weekend so I’m looking forward to a lay in. Fingers crossed!!

Eldarwen | 5004 comments Eurgh, cleaning... that is going to take up a large portion of my weekend as well. Not that it's going to last long. It's raining and the cat is an outdoor one so wet paw prints all over 5 minutes after mopping haha ;-) Ah well. Needs doing though!

I do have a brunch with the girls lined up as well though so there is some fun involved this weekend, too :-)

Ah it's always awesome when you find a series like that! :-)
Fingers are crossed that you can have a lay in!

Cat (cat_uk) | 2147 comments yeah, I've had a week of Very Busyness this week, so sadly GR chat had to give! I have been fitting in y reading though! I reckon I'll be through with one of my books tonight, the other two progressing, but one's on audio, so takes a bit longer in general, and the other is short stories, so I'm picking up & putting down.

Hoping that my weekend is chilled, after last weekend, with the niblings for their birthday and then this week... I just want to veg with a book!

message 658: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 5004 comments That is bliss sometimes!

Did that last Sunday and it was the best. Read Lover Eternal almost in one day and I'm not usually someone who knocks out 300 pages a day.

Louise | 1282 comments Hoping for a semi chilled weekend, need to do the chores

Eldarwen | 5004 comments Cat wrote: "Elite a reverse rather than the 8red?"

Ah yes, we do have an 8 Red to fill still. It'll work better for that one then for sure! :-)

message 666: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 5004 comments Cat wrote: "I've read beauty & the beast"

That one will be a reverse then ;-)

message 667: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 5004 comments I'm hopefully going to finishing my Tea book tomorrow at the latest. It's finally picked up a little so the last 50 or so pages were much quicker to read. If it stays like this, then I might even manage to finish tonight. Finally!

message 668: by Cat (new)

Cat (cat_uk) | 2147 comments Excellent news!

I've started the very weird (but I'm enjoying it) The Seven Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle

Cards:
Seven in title
S title
Evelyn Hardcastle char
Turton author

I confess, I picked it to cover one of our many many 8 cards, but happy wherever! :)

message 669: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 5004 comments We do have a lot of 8s as well...

Not to mention the insane amount of 2s....

Let's slot yours in for an 8 then. We need to cover all the cards anyway :-)

message 670: by Cat (last edited Mar 09, 2018 02:27AM) (new)

Cat (cat_uk) | 2147 comments The 8 card does also mean we get our first hand filled, and with books that we are close-ish to finishing (I reckon I'll have both mine done by the end of the weekend) :)

Then I shall see if I can find a 1 Red. I was more than a little sad that Killers of Flower Moon was more orange than red. Ah well!

ETA: oh! that was fairly easy, I think I have two on my TBR:
The Power by Naomi Alderman (metadata says there's an O char) or The Fishermen by Chigozie Obioma (author O)
I'm probably slightly more inclined to The Power, Women's Month, after all, but we'll see how I feel next week!

message 671: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 5004 comments Mmhh, The Power was selected as a group read end of last year for the Our Shared Shelf group so it would definitely be fitting for March.

It's been on my radar but I wasn't sure. Friend of mine told me there was a lull somewhere along the lines and it seemed a little research-y in the middle. That put me off again. But the synopsis does sound interesting!

message 672: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 5004 comments (This is a perfect example of a cover though that looks orange-y on GoodReads but is for a fact more or less red in practically all its versions.)

message 673: by Cat (new)

Cat (cat_uk) | 2147 comments Eldarwen wrote: "(This is a perfect example of a cover though that looks orange-y on GoodReads but is for a fact more or less red in practically all its versions.)"

Totally! I didn't even think it wasn't red until I saw my post, and had a wobble. They are both red in their physical incarnations - do we need to get Fishermen verified you think?

I'll let you know how I get on. My main concern is that I'm reading a LOT of books with shifting viewpoints: Obelisk Gate rotates between two main ones; Lifting the Veil is short stories - though I'm just reading one at a time, doling out like treats!; and Seven Deaths... has one main character narrating, but hopping into different bodies who change his character slightly.
Reading another book with that sort of narration might be one too far... We'll see, as I *am* enjoying all of them at the moment

message 674: by Eldarwen (last edited Mar 09, 2018 02:51AM) (new)

Eldarwen | 5004 comments Nah, Fishermen looks redder than Power. And as long as the physical books are red that's what counts. Images aren't always perfect.

That is a lot of viewpoints and hopping around to read at the same time! But as long as you're enjoying them :-)
You could always wait to be done with the other ones before you start another one with that much shifting?

Work is a little slow at the moment, so I think I'm going to pick up a quickie kindle read to pass the time and fake working haha ;-) (I don't own a kindle, but cloud reader is a very nice thing to have!)
Even Witches Get the Blues

message 675: by Cat (new)

Cat (cat_uk) | 2147 comments Excellent plan! Enjoy!

and! oh! is that a blue 1 that we can use in the WD4? And use The Power (I've decided!) for Red 1 & Skip. Which would fill hand 2 up nicely :)

message 676: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 5004 comments That could work, yes!

It's a 5 Blue we need to duplicate then. I'm keeping my eyes peeled for an I character!

I'm so jealous haha.

I ended up doing nothing at all of my chores. I was out of the house most of the day and wasn't inclined to start cleaning when I got home at 5ish ;-)

message 689: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 5004 comments Yay, Kelly, you've been reading a lot as well! :-)

message 690: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 5004 comments Ah it's such bliss though to be reading a faster-paced book again that doesn't take me days to read 50 pages :-p

I'm currently reading Holiday in Death and am enjoying it a lot. With a bit of luck, and despite chores that WILL have to be done today (yes, yes, I am remind myself this way haha), I will probably be half-way through by the end of the day.

message 691: by Cat (new)

Cat (cat_uk) | 2147 comments I'm reading The Power right now. It's so good. I'm at 65% and it's not lulled yet...
