A while ago, we asked you to head to THIS THREAD to post three (3) favourite books/series, up to a maximum of five (5) for those of us who have a hard time deciding ;-), you would recommend to others.
As some of you have already guessed, this will in some way be incorporated into an upcoming optional mini challenge. (Nope, our lips are sealed still, we are not going to tell you what it is :-p)
However, a surprisingly large number of players have not posted any recommendations yet. Unfortunately, that might make things difficult for your fellow players as well as yourselves.
Please, please, post 3-5 recommendations in the above mentioned thread. If you don't, we may be forced to take unwanted action as a result.

Also, I updated this post with what cards we still have left this month! We are making amazing progress so far so great job everyone :)

1 Yellow -

2 Green -

If you want to do both of them, go for it :) That'd be very helpful! If you don't want to do both, I can probably take the 1 Yellow because I have a few yellows on my TBR list.

1 Yellow -

2 Green - [bookcover:The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hu..."
I was planning on reading a book that could fit a WD4, but it could also fit elsewhere, so, like Kaley said, if you want to do both of them, go for it!

Ok! Well like Catie said we can fit them elsewhere too. But this way we will have a few backups for colored cards/WD4 as well, which will be good to have in case we need them for any reason!

Laini Taylor
1 - is book 1 in a series
2 - has an author first name or surname starts with T (Taylor)
5 - character name starting with I (Issa)
SKIP - character name starting with K (Karou)
Red - Over 50%

Yes, yes, you have guessed it already - the recommendations were not only for our pleasure but there was something more to it ;-)
Since some of you have already added a few of the recommendations to your TBR shelves, we figured that would be an ideal title for our February Mini Challenge. ;-)
All info for the mini challenge can be found HERE. Have fun!
(Co-)Captains, your spreadsheets will be updated with a new sheet for the mini challenge within the next 24 hours.

First things first Please go read the rules! (Please do so before continuing with the rest of my post -- it will make no sense until you have read the rules and I don't want to cause any unnecessary confusion!)
Once you have read the rules, browse the team selections and please comment with your top 35 team choices for Part 1. Tomorrow morning, right after the challenge starts, I will tally our results and let you know which three teams we are using for Part 1. (FYI, I probably won't be able to post that info until about 3 or 4 hours after the challenge starts -- because it starts at 3 a.m. my time -- but I will post it ASAP after the start time. So make sure to post your choices before that time).
Hopefully there will be a clear-cut top 3, but if not I will try to get a mix of everyone's interests. However, there are only 6 books for Part 1 and 8 of us... so if nothing in the recs for teams for Part 1 interest you, please don't feel obligated to read something for it. There are enough of us that we should be able to fill it up on team members' interests. Also remember that for Part 2, the "connection" can be "it's the same book" so if you wanted to read something for a team that isn't chosen for Part 2, you can still read it for Part 2.
Important note: Only books started after the challenge start time and finished by Feb. 28 can count for the challenge. The challenge starts in about 18.5 hours from now on Wednesday February 14, 2018 at 7pm AEDST (Australian Eastern Daylight Savings Time). To see when this is in your time zone, use

Completing the challenge will require about 42 books total (6 in Part 1, 36 in Part 2). We currently have about 45 books read in the first 13 days of February, so the number should be no problem! It will just take a little coordination, communication, and creativity between all of us to make sure we have everything covered :)
Usually during UNO, most of the teams will finish their hands for the month (which we are well on track to do!), so these mini challenges can really made a difference.
Let me know if you have any questions at all!

February Mini Challenge Update
For Part 1, we will be using Team Neptune, Team Milky Way, and Team Musca.
This mini challenge will require book claiming so we don't have multiple people reading for one goal. If you are planning to read for one of these, comment below. I will update this comment as we decide. (I've also copied this info into the "February cards" comment on the first page of this thread so you all can find it easily.)
Team Neptune
1-

2-

Team Milky Way
1-

2-

Team Musca
1-

2-

That means our Part 2 teams are:
Team Andromeda
Team Betelgeuse
Team Carina
Team Ceres
Team Eris
Team Grus
Team Haumea
Team Hydrus
Team Jupiter
Team Kuiper
Team Mensa
Team Mercury
Team Pluto
Team Pyxis
Team Sculptor
Team Triangulum
Team Tucana
Team Venus
Part 2 will be a little more challenging to claim outright since some ways to "connect" a book you read to a book from that team may not be obvious until you're reading, but if you see something to connect the book beforehand (like to do with the cover, author's name, etc.), please go ahead and comment that you a claiming a book for that team.
Again, this is an optional mini challenge, so don't feel pressured to participate if you don't want to! But, it is a good opportunity to get extra points and potential put us ahead of other teams.
Let me know if you have any questions!

Hi Amanda,
Did you happen to start either (or both) of the books you finished yesterday after the start of the mini challenge? If so I was going to look through and see if I could find "connections" for them for Part 2...but if not I'll just add them to the regular hands! Just figured I'd check so as to not waste them if they were eligible :)
Have you down for the other Part 2 ones you claimed!

Hi team! Happy Friday/Saturday (depending on where you live)! I hope everyone had a great week. I just wanted to check in with all of you and see how you are feeling! Do you like UNO so far? Have you found any great books based on your teammates' reads that are now on your TBR list?
I, for one, live in an area that is expecting a decent amount of snow/ice this weekend, so I'll probably stay in most of the weekend and hopefully will be able to get a lot of good reading in :)
Also, as an update -- I'm expecting we will have a mini challenge for February announced within the next few days, but I will let you know the details when I learn more!
Hope everyone has a great weekend!
