Amongst other things, Homer's epic Odyssey examines various attitudes towards foreigners and strangers. Menelaus is a case of proper Xenia, the middle way. Calypso loves this foreigner-stranger a little too much; Cyclope blindly hates foreigner, both extremes bring sufferings.
