We are officially half way through the year, and I'm officially at half way to meeting my yearly reading goal at 15/30 books, 2 of which I read this month. How are you doing with your reading goal for the year?

This month I read...

The Curious Charms of Arthur Pepper by Phaedra Patrick- This was the Last Chapter Book Club book of the month, and it was a hit. The book club rated it a 4.6/5 stars overall. It was sweet and heartwarming story with some great comedic moments thrown in there as well.

Love & Gelato by Jenna Evans Welch- This is the best YA romance I've read in a long time. I absolutely loved it. If you are looking for a YA romance to read, I highly recommend this. It is a great quick and light read as well.

I'm actually ahead of schedule this year which I haven't accomplished in the last few years. I've read 17 of 26 books so far.

The Death of Democracy: Hitler's Rise to Power and the Downfall of the Weimar Republic by Benjamin Carter Hett. This is a really good, concise history of the Weimer Republic and the rise of Hitler. I enjoy reading about this time period and this is one of the better books I've read on the subject.

New York by Edward Rutherfurd. This is a fantastic piece of historical fiction. It tells the story of New York City using two families. From the Dutch beginnings through the Revolutionary War was particularly interesting.

Pride and Prejudice and Zombies by Seth Grahame-Smith. This was better than I thought it would be. Pride & Prejudice is one of my favorite novels so I was unsure about this one but I think he pulled it off well.

I just finished All the Bright Places by Jennifer Nivens. I thought it was wonderful. It is a YA read about 2 teens who form a bond after some pretty intense life experiences. Suicide is a major discussion throughout the book, so if that is a trigger, you may want to approach with care. Resources are listed in the back of the book.
