Jeremiah Cunningham | 717 comments The Guardian has released their 2018 Not the Booker prize shortlist. You can find it here as well as the process for the winner being chosen. It is an interesting group of books, some of which sound very intriguing.

Susie An interesting list. I hope to try them.

KateNZ | 4054 comments I think I have to get through the Yes the Booker Prize list first ... but this does look interesting

Haha! I guess I need to take a look!

Cheryl (cherylllr) I've actually despised the (admittedly few) Booker books I've tried. I'll take a look at this other list.

Edit after adding links and investigating. Ok, these seem to be even more-so downers about dysfunction. Two have the word 'terrifying' in the blurb, at least one is a dystopia, etc... no, not for me.

Cheryl (cherylllr) Raising Sparks by Ariel Kahn (110)
Dark Pines by Will Dean (83)
Sweet Fruit, Sour Land by Rebecca Ley (69)
The Ruin by Dervla McTiernan (67)
Sealed by Naomi Booth (64)

Susie Chery, which ones from the Man Booker have you read thus far?

message 10: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl (cherylllr) Not sure. Life of Pi, and maybe Sense of an Ending, as far as winners, maybe some others on the list look familiar. No interest in digging to see which nominees I've read.

message 11: by Susie (new)

Susie Ah yes, Life of Pi wasn’t my favourite either. I love Julian Barnes though. Different strokes. 😊
