Okay, you were SO good with the letter "L" could you work your magic on the letter "K" and post a list of K countries? They're right next to each other in the alpahbet. :-)

(Or let me in to your secret on how you compiled the list so quickly)

Thanks! -Krista

Krista (kacey14) Another thought for WALES is the 'Wales' trilogy by Sharon Kay Penman I believe the first book in that series is Here be Dragons

Wa-hoo! Thanks -- you just keep on searching. I love what you've come up with so far. :-)

Now that you've jogged my memory about Kenya, I've had West with the Night on my TBR pile for quite awhile. That is set mainly in Kenya also. I think I'll pencil that in for the task for now.

Also - i think i was going to read Eat Pray Love which partly takes place in Bali. That could work for a B. I'm hoping Cynthia will allow Britain to count... that would really open up possibilities.

message 21: by Natalie (new)

Natalie I have a great suggestions for people looking for L books, I read Anarchy and Old Dogs recently and it's set in Laos. I didn't realize that it's a detective series when I picked it up, and of course it's not the first in the series (that's how I seem to manage to do things!) But it's a great book nonetheless and if you wanted to start with the first in the series it's set in Laos as well.

Cynthia just approved using Britain as a B country - so anything set there will work too!

Ideas for books set in M countries?
Morocco
Mali
Malta
Madagascar
Mexico
Mongolia
Malaysia

If possible i would like to avoid using Mexico as I have to do the other Mexico task already and would like to branch out!

I'm planning on reading Hideous Kinky A Novel by Esther Freud. It's set in Morocco.

message 25: by Slayermel (new)

Slayermel | 53 comments If your a horror fan this one sounds promising The Ruins, I stumbled across it. Stephen King even did a review for it :0) Takes place in Mexico.

I was going to use it for part of my Geography task but now that I see Hideous Kinky is based in Morocco I might switch it to my Hispanic Heritage Month instead.

Anyone have any other good M suggestions?

For Haiti, I would recommend The Farming of Bones by Edwidge Danticat. Warning: it was heart-wrenching. It's one of the few books that made me cry.

You might take a look at Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ author Myriam J.A. Chancy. Her novel The Scorpion's Claw wasn't my cup of tea, but you might have a different reaction.

Also, I've had Zora Neale Hurston's Tell My Horse Voodoo and Life in Haiti and Jamaica on my TBR list for a while, though I couldn't fit it into this challenge. That might count for this task (if you're lucky enough to have a J or H name).
