Life of Pi - Question pgs 1-80

Sorry for the delay. Please respond to one of the following religious questions as well as the question below about Pi as a young-man.
1. In the Author's Note, the "author" is told that he will hear a story that will make him believe in God. Religion plays a large role in Pi's early life. How does his spirituality affect his view on the world? In his mind, how are the religions connected? What events shaped his views on religion? What challenges his views on religion?
2. What stands out to you regarding Pi as a young man?

In the mind of Pi, he looks at religions as a way of learning more. He thinks that you can practice any religion you want and eventually finds that Islam, Catholicism, and Hinduism (his first religion) are all connected and can all be practiced if you want to. Although not accepted by everyone, Pi's views on being able to practice any religion he wants is just a way for him to learn more. He looks at religions as a way to learn a new culture or a different aspect of life because no matter what religion you practice, it just shows dedication to a god or God.
What stands out to me the most regarding Pi is probably that he is so open when it comes to other religions. He grew up with Hinduism and it really strikes me to see that he is so open to so many other religions. Being raised in a Christian household, I don't know if I would be anywhere close to as adventurous as he was. It really strikes me the most to see that he is so open to different ways of life rather than just taking the simple road.

H views religion as a way of expanding your mindset and learning about devotion. He views religion as a means of understanding one another as they are all connected through the act of devoting yourself to a deity.
He seems to examine things from a different unique perspective. For example, he says that animals should be happier in captivity because they don't have to worry about predators or catching prey, which is a different opinion from most yet he justifies it through logic and reasoning. He also is open minded for he switches between different religions with ease and is devoted to each one as if he had been practicing it his whole life.
