I loved Fifteen & own a copy of it. I would be up for a reread of this one next year.

Looks like someone has turned Ms Cleary's teen books into a series. Are they a series or are they standalones?

Casting my mind back to my public library cataloguing days, I recall she did tend to write series. She had two main series, Henry Huggins, and Ramona. I think there was also a mouse, Ralph?, and a couple of others that had just 2 or 3 books in them, as though she'd started but not continued.

ٳٱ❇ (critterbee) | 354 comments I read the Luckiest Girl and Fifteen, I believe they were my first 'romance' books. I still remember details about Fifteen!

The Ramona books did have a common character & a shared universe which does make them a series by GR standards. These books have a common theme ("First Love") but that isn't enough - otherwise all Victoria Holt's Gothic Novels & Georgette Heyer's Regency Romances would be a series.

Because I've only read Fifteen & because these books were made into a series in 2011, I would like to hear from someone who has read all or most of the books before removing.

Here is staff member rivka ruling on a non series

/topic/show/...

Edit: The First Love series.

ٳٱ❇ (critterbee) | 354 comments The Ramona Quimby books were all about the same family, and mostly from Ramona's pov.

Ralph S. Mouse, Runaway Ralph and The Mouse and the Motorcycle were all about Ralph Mouse.

Henry Huggins was a character in a few books, and Ribsy is in that series as well. The first Henry book has Beezus Quimby in it, so that is a bit of a crossover, or Henry was a spinoff or some such.

ٳٱ❇ (critterbee) | 354 comments I don't think that Fifteen and The Luckiest Girl are in the same series - well not for characters or locations at least.

Thanks Critterbee. I'll remove the series.

Would you like to look at the Miss Buncle trilogy while you are at it? DE Stevenson wrote the trilogy featuring the life of Miss Buncle who lived at Silverstream, London; was married and lived in Hampstead Heath, Wandlebury London; then came The Two Mrs Abbotts (still featuring Barbara Buncle/Abbott) set in Chevis Green, Wandlebury, moving to North Africa. That's where Barbara Buncle/Abbott ceases to feature, but GR think The Four Graces is part of that trilogy because it is set in Chevis Green, Wandlebury, London, and is about the Reverend and his four daughters! So if you apply that logic, Vittoria Cottage which is also set in Ashbridge, near Chevis Green; Wandlebury, London.

There's something to spend your Saturday on :)

Ha! I'm steampunkin' this weekend, but I promise I'll look on Monday.

Problem is - I have several Stevenson novels, but haven't read any of them yet! If the Reverend & his daughters feature in the other books it may be a series by GR standards.

But I'll look Monday.

good reads calls it the "first love" series but they are each "stand alone".

I think they are all worth re-reading but like #3 Jean & Johnny the least (view spoiler) #4 Sister of the Bride I really liked and very much wanted a sequel.

I would totally re-read any of them with you folks.

I recently read Miss Buncle for some group, wasn't it this one?? I really liked it.

I looked at this & there is this explanation on the series page

/series/6115...

To me it sounds like the link between the other 3 books & The Four Graces is tenuous at best.

There is this thread here, Lesley, in the Librarians Group if you want to query this.

/topic/show/...

It would be better if you did it, as you have read the books & I haven't. :)
