It's on the list, and does not have childrens as a main page genre. You're set.

QUESTION ... do we have to read the exact edition that appears on the list or will any edition of this title work.

SRC is the Seasonal Reading Challenge. You need to read the rules of the challenge - that's where you will find the rules for whether a particular book listed as childrens works.

First of all, it is not required that a book be pre-verified as being on the list. Anywhere on the list works, unless the task states otherwise - for instance, a task may require that a book be found on the first two pages of a list. When you find a book on the list, it's a good idea to write down the date you found it and its position on the list - the number or, if no number is given, the page.
When you post a task from a list, it's REALLY helpful if you include a link to the page on the list in your post, along with stating whatever info is required by the task - makes it just a little faster for the readerboard mod to verify.

First, verify that it's on the list. If so, look at the genre list - childrens is listed as a genre. To determine whether you can use this book for challenge points, look at the Rules of the Challenge regarding childrens books. Then check out the book on the AR Bookfinder, to see whether it meets the criteria.

:( It has a BL of 4.7 instead of 5. Oh well, I'll keep looking.

If you really want to work the book in, you could use it for a 5 point task. The AR points are higher than 5.
"ONE book with the IL designation of MG or MY (in UK) with a BL of at least 5.0 OR AR Pts of at least 5.0 will be allowed for ONE 5-point task"

Rereads are always allowed unless the task specifically prohibits them.
