I really loved the first Beautiful Creatures, but had to dredge through the 2nd and couldn't finish the 3rd. I hope the series goes better for you.

message 57: by Caru (new)

Caru @Tommy:Yeah, I'm loving it so far!
Yeah, I've heard that the other two books aren't that good.
Hopefully, I enjoy them, thanks.

Tommy Hancock (tommyhancock) | 93 comments I recently came to the conclusion that, since I am a very easily satisfied person in terms of entertainment, I will start discarding books that don't capture my interest within the first few chapters(a very easy thing to do, really) and moving along to the next rather than continuing with hopes that I'll enjoy it more along the way. Unfortunately, The Mysterious Howling (The Incorrigible Children of Ashton Place #1) by Maryrose Wood has fallen victim to this philosophy after three chapters :/

So, I moved along to The Vengekeep Prophecies by Brian Farrey Four chapters in and I'm already really enjoying it :)

message 60: by Tommy (new)

Tommy Hancock (tommyhancock) | 93 comments Finished The Vengekeep Prophecies by Brian Farrey last night and just loved it. I highly recommend it.

I think I'm gonna start The Journal of Curious Letters (The 13th Reality, #1) by James Dashner later today. Take a gander at what Dashner did pre-Maze Runner.

Tommy Hancock (tommyhancock) | 93 comments I finished The Journal of Curious Letters (The 13th Reality, #1) by James Dashner last night. Really fun read. Gives you a lot of action, and a nice little bit of fun puzzles to ponder as Tick tries to solve them. I recommend.

Up next, The Dark Hills Divide (The Land of Elyon, #1) by Patrick Carman

message 67: by Tommy (new)

Tommy Hancock (tommyhancock) | 93 comments Sadly, after spending over a week to reach page 70, I decided to give up on The Dark Hills Divide (The Land of Elyon, #1) by Patrick Carman :/ The synopsis sounded so interesting, but that far in and nearly nothing had happened. So sad.

I started Theodosia and the Serpents of Chaos (Theodosia Throckmorton, #1) by R.L. LaFevers (my last library book) a couple days ago, and I'm liking it so far. It's pretty light and kind of funny, but still interesting enough so far.

So many cool books!!

message 69: by Nikita (new)

Nikita I'm going to start The Iron King (The Iron Fey, #1) by Julie Kagawa tomorrow

message 70: by Tommy (new)

Tommy Hancock (tommyhancock) | 93 comments Since I last commented I finished:

Legacy Code (Legacy Code #1) by Autumn Kalquist which I really liked. Kind of a really intense drama in space. It felt more "grown up" to me than most YA books I read, but I really enjoyed it and would recommend it to anyone looking for a change of pace.

also, Avatar The Last Airbender - The Search by Gene Luen Yang a graphic novel that takes place after the end of the TV show. If you watched the show, I recommend this. If you haven't, I recommend watching it, then reading this. Love this series in all its incarnations :)

I'm now reading The Knife of Never Letting Go (Chaos Walking, #1) by Patrick Ness I'm a little less than halfway done. Not much of a clue what's going on, but I'm liking it. The intense scenes are like :O

message 71: by Tommy (new)

Tommy Hancock (tommyhancock) | 93 comments Tonight I'm gonna start The Ask and the Answer (Chaos Walking, #2) by Patrick Ness

Tommy Hancock (tommyhancock) | 93 comments Started Monsters of Men (Chaos Walking, #3) by Patrick Ness last night. I'm sad for it to end.

message 74: by Tommy (new)

Tommy Hancock (tommyhancock) | 93 comments Took a break from Monsters of Men (Chaos Walking, #3) by Patrick Ness to read The New World (Chaos Walking, #0.5) by Patrick Ness and The Wide, Wide Sea (Chaos Walking, #2.5) by Patrick Ness .

Both very good, now back to the MoM!

Tommy Hancock (tommyhancock) | 93 comments I started Theodosia and the Staff of Osiris (Theodosia Throckmorton, #2) by R.L. LaFevers this morning. I liked the first book, but really debated whether or not I'd keep reading the series. A couple chapters in and I'm already glad I did. Instantly liked it better than book 1.
