Kathy (hnybee411) Getting ready to go see a movie with the kiddos but I'll pick for my partner when we get back.

Oh, and Sheryl...that book sounds great. Off to put it on hold at the library.

Kathy (hnybee411) Okay Annie I'm going to recommend the following:

1.The Duke of Shadows by Meredith Duran. She is quite possible my favorite historical romance author at the moment.
2. Magic Bites by Ilona Andrews
3. Moon Called by Patricia Briggs.

Hope one of them is to your liking. :)

Thanks Kathy - I've requestd Duke of Shadows from the library. A new historical romance author is always welcome!

Sallie(GeorgiaGirl) (shuga) | 1182 comments LibraryLass: thanks so much for recommending a great book - i loved it, so much in fact I have just ordered the 2nd one in the series from Borders yesterday. Thank you again for the suggestion.

Wendy (wendyfraser65) | 772 comments You are very welcome Sallie. It can be quite nerve racking picking for someone else, so tastes differ so very much. But that is one cool book! :)

Yz, I am halfway through Moon called. Hoping to finish it tonight and have already reserved the next one in the series from the library :)

Melissa | 1245 comments Hey southpaw! I finished It Had to Be You today. Overall, I liked it and gave it three stars. As is typical with this type of romance book, I had moments where I wanted to throw the book across the room because of all the miscommunications and other things that went wrong. I was a bit frustrated with the time lapse sometimes. I wasn't too impressed with how messed up both main characters upbringing was. It was all a bit too much and unbelievable, but hey, that's why it's called fiction. On a positive note, there were plenty of tender moments and a few laughs througout. The big sexy football coach was fun to read about. Obviously, the story held my attention because I read it in just over a day. I was always curious about this author because I see discussions about her books on here so I'm very glad for the recommendation. I'll probably read another in this series when I'm in the mood for a romance! Thanks!

Lesley Annvelwis,
I finished The Unsung Hero and I really liked it! Thanks for recommending it, I think I might continue reading the series now. :)

message 61: by Kasia (new)

Kasia Emily! I'm about to dig into Carrie. So excited! I tried Blue Bloods but there were so many clothes references in that one, that I gave up. But then you gave me so many options ;)

Anyways, I'm off to read some Carrie now.

Kasia Sure will. I was thinking of putting a sign-up in a day or two, but might as well do it today... Just give me a few minutes ;)

So glad you liked it.

Annvelwis | 671 comments Tammy, I've just finished Blue Bloods and, well, I guess it wasn't what I've expected. Plot looked intresting, but characters, descriptions of fashion and... well, I was constantly annoyed by it.

Shanna, thanks so much for recommending "The Luxe". I really enjoyed it and will now finish out the series. It was a great book.

Wendy (wendyfraser65) | 772 comments Yz, thanks again for Moon called, I thoroughly enjoyed it and now have the others on reserve at the library!

message 69: by Annie (new)

Annie (themadnessofhamsters) Hi Kathy C - I'm so sorry! I've just arrived in another city (conference for work) and realised that in my rush to get ready I forgot to pack Duke of Shadows! That's what I get for leaving it till the last minute!
I was at the family holiday home for the weekend, doing work on the garden & renovations - and got in the door with 25 minutes before the taxi arrived to take me to the airport! Very quick shower, final packing & out the door...
Cross my heart - I will read it next month, and post in the October pick it for me thread.

Yz the Whyz (whyz) | 9327 comments Library Lass,

Glad you enjoyed Mercy's first book. I'm planning to read the third book on that series next month, so maybe we can catch up and chatter about it.

Annie,

Finally got my book "I Am the Messenger" from the library. Planning to start with it today, and hopefully I will finish it before the month ends, depending on my schedule.

Annie (themadnessofhamsters) Yz wrote: "Annie,

Finally got my book..."

That's ok Yz - as you can see from my previous comment, I haven't been very good this month... and the book picked for me in the June challenge finally arrive 2 weeks ago!

Yz the Whyz (whyz) | 9327 comments Annie,

Finally finished Zusak's I Am the Messenger last night. I enjoyed the book very much, although it didn't have the same impact on me as The Book Thief. Still it leads me to ponder about stuff and life.

Thanks for choosing it again for me. I wouldn't have pick it on my own.
