Cheryl (cherylllr) I've been a member of Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ for over 8 years and, over time, my needs have changed. I used to focus on 'what to read next' much more than on discussions.

So, I need help organizing my bookshelves. If you take a peek, you'll see that they're big. And so far my organization tags have to do with Availability to-read. Once a book is Read, that's (usually) the only tag it has. It's worked fine for years, but I've finally decided I need to be smart like so many of you people.

I really really want to be able to find books on my shelves by intended age range, by subject matter, by theme, etc. etc. so I can help people with recommendations (and for other related reasons).

So, maybe I get started by deciding what tags I need? Or how do you advise I start? Am I going to be finding out how to use "bulk edit" - ? What other advice can you give me?

(If any of you are in other groups with me, please forgive the cross-post. I need more help than I've gotten so far.)

Kerri | 710 comments I wish I could help but I use four shelves right now: currently reading, read, didn't finish, and a shelf to mark my books for this group (to count towards my group read challenge!). My to-read books are listed elsewhere to keep me from adding just about every book I see here willy-nilly.

Deciding what tags you need sounds like a good idea to me though. Once you know how you want them organized, it will be easier to carry through. You will have a set plan of action. I've seen people with intensely stratified shelves, so maybe looking around at how other people have sorted theirs will give you some ideas of what you like/want, and what you don't.

Best of luck!!

Cheryl (cherylllr) Ty Kerri!

I like your idea of keeping a separate list of to-read... I can consider translating that to doing this project offline and then re-importing, maybe.... Or at least practicing offline with a portion of my books.....
