Joanne (joabroda1) | 12232 comments Going through all the "36" lists and seeing how amicable everyone is to doing buddy reads I thought I would start a thread where each month you can post what you are reading from your "36"-making it easier to find a buddy if you want one. Thoughts? Should I just leave it here, or move it to Footnotes?

Meli (melihooker) | 4165 comments Love this idea because I keep seeing threads in each individual's 2019 challenge post or other threads where we are talking about the buddy reads and I am worried I will miss out if I miss the mention in another thread...

I will leave the placement of the thread to the admins.

Book Concierge (tessabookconcierge) | 8253 comments You might want to change the title of this thread ... so it's clear people are looking for buddies.

Theresa | 14902 comments Great idea to have a place where folks can look for buddy reads.

Actually meant it for the "36" so how about adding that? I am not sure what else to call it, so up for ideas

NO JOI!!! LOL each month post what you will be reading, not your whole list again!🤣🤣

message 13: by Booknblues (new)

Booknblues | 11528 comments I see what Joi is doing she is trying to come up with a list. Perhaps we should have a thread to help coordinate lists so we don't have to pour over everyone's list.

Amy | 12622 comments Love this list, Joi! Also drawn to Salt yo the Sea.

That is alot of work for someone.

I was thinking something like here are some popular books on my list:

1. White Tiger
2. Before the Fall
11. Lily and the Octopus
12. From Sand and Ash
13. Gilead (Gilead, #1)
14. Hot Milk

Anyone interested in these?

message 17: by Amy (new)

Amy | 12622 comments Sand and Ash - you’re already on with me I think!

We are. I just giving an example in case anyone is on board and wondering if we should have a separate thread.

Joe ... I haven't even finished compiling my list, and I know this book won't be on it. Not sure who had it on his/her list ... sorry.

Book Concierge (tessabookconcierge) | 8253 comments Does anyone have
Us Against You by Fredrick Backman

on the list?

Right now, I have it as # 2 ... but would be willing to move its position on the list to match someone else.

message 21: by Joanne (new)

Joanne (joabroda1) | 12232 comments OK-sorry guys what I intended was this:

Starting for January you will just post what you are reading for the "36", then anyone can check that thread and join in on that book(whether it is on your 36 or not).

I did not mean to chastise Joi-I was just laughing too hard! It just seems there are lists flying all over the place and it got a little confusing-I never meant for another thread with lists!

Anyway-when I start the "What are you reading: thread for January, it is meant just for that month. I thought this an easy way
to find a buddy without trolling all the lists again!

I have it, BC - it's #34 on my list.

I have put a spreadsheet together of all the lists, and have formatted it to show duplicates. However, it only color codes it to one color, it doesn't have a provision to allow different colors for different books. I am trying to figure out the easiest way to work this, but haven't got the time right now. The problem is, how do we coordinate changing the book positions?

Anyone who wants the list can PM me with their email address. I will post this in the other thread too.

Okay ... Annapi ... I'm going to move Us Against You to # 34 on MY list as well.

And I'll pm you for a copy of the spreadsheet. I am NOT an excel expert, but my husband is and when we get back home from our current trip I'll ask him to take a look. Might not be until January ... but will still be helpful for the rest of the year.

Getting ready to post my list today.

BC, I do not have Excel on my computer, do you(or your husband) know if I would be able to open it up in the Google speadsheet?

Joanne ... we aren't very familiar with the Google spreadsheets, so don't know. But maybe someone else can answer.

message 26: by Joi (new)

Joi (missjoious) | 3969 comments Lol didn't meant to stir any feathers posting my list- I just figured everything I have so far is potential for buddy reads, since I'm trying to go off of other's.

I'm just been pouring over other's lists to find matches to my personal TBR.

message 27: by Amy (new)

Amy | 12622 comments Should there be a prize for most buddy reads off Trim the TBR? Some of you guys are really going for it!

Joi, I loved that you posted your list, and that you took the time to go through everyone else's list and find buddy reads for every entry! That's really thoughtful and a great way to connect with others. I think I'm going to switch out my number 10 and join you and AJ in reading Salt to the Sea, if it happens to be chosen. :)

message 29: by Amy (new)

Amy | 12622 comments Again, not my number 20, but I may read it with you guys just because. Same with the huntress and once upon a river. If your number comes up I may have to join in even though I’ve got my own number 10 or whatever to read.

Amy, I think the Once Upon A River you are referencing is the Diane Setterfield novel that was just released?
Coincidentally, I have a book titled "Once Upon A River" on my list of 36 but it's by Bonnie Jo Campbell and is set in my home state of Michigan. I looked up the Diane Setterfield book, though, and it looks great! I'd like to read that too.
