Relay Race Reading Challenge 2019

>>>>>> For 2019, our goal is to read 2 million pages !!
To reach that, we should reach around 500 thousand pages per quarter.
Or an average 170,000 pages a month.
Previous years results in pages read
2017 - .. 486,454
2018 - 1,681,836 (original goal: 1 million, raised to 1.5 million)

Wrong sums, not getting the total from the LAST page, just being distracted and other strange things frequently happen! :-)
That's why we need to constantly check the sum and frequently correct it.
Many readers have been randomly volunteering to check the sum, what has been a relief to mods.
I'll try to organize it for 2019, so that no one is overburdened.
My suggestion: each volunteer becomes responsible for ONE whole week only in the year - or even more, if you are willing to. Weeks will go from Monday to Sunday.
Just let me know when you can do that and I'll include your name on the list below. Starting with the first quarter.
2019 weeks
1 - (Jan 1 - 6) - Marcos
2 - (Jan 7 - 13) - Amy
3 - (Jan 14 - 20) - Han
4 - (Jan 21 - 27) - Astrid
5 - (Jan 28 - Feb 3) - Andrea
6 - (Feb 4- 10) - Kerri
7 - (Feb 11 - 17) - Zainab
8 - (Feb 18 - 24) - Anjanette
9 - (Feb 25 - Mar 3) - Nell
10 - (Mar 4 - 10) - Jess
11 - (Mar 11 - 17) - Jacquie
12 - (Mar 18 - 24) - Tori
13 - (Mar 25 - 31) - Hali
And we have all the weeks covered! Thanks, guys!
More volunteers will be welcome when we come closer to the second quarter.
Kerri and Nell will be our supercheckers! :-)

If each one posts in a different way (cover vs. link, same line vs. different lines, bold vs. not bold, et.), it sometimes becomes harder for who is sum checking or managing the challenge to find the information.
This may look simple, but after hundreds of messages, believe me, a standard post helps! :-)
So, if you care to make life easier for your mods, checkers, volunteers, etc., you can use the following template with code for posting in this challenge. :-)
1. Add book COVER as instructed in message 1 above.
2. Copy the text between the lines - but NOT the lines (---------).
-----------------------------------------------------
January 31
XXX pages
<*b*>Total Group Pages: SUM HERE<*/b*>
-----------------------------------------------------
3. Paste it under the book cover.
4. Change the month, the day and XXX for your correct data.
5. Change "SUM HERE" for your addition result.
6. REMOVE the four asterisks (*)
The result should look like this (without the lines, of course):
-----------------------------
February 28
286 pages
Total Group Pages: 1,234,567
-----------------------------

May your 2019 be filled with love, happiness and lots of reading :)

total: 64 pages

Completed: Jan. 1, 2019
Pages: 382
Total: 2,721

I can cover week 3

268 pgs
complete 1-1-19
* I'm on the android app, there's no way that I can see? (no button or menu, etc) to add a link to the book or picture of the cover, sry *

288 pages
Total pages: 366 + 288= 654"
For this group challenge, we add the pages that we have read to the previous group total pages. So it would be up to message 29: Group Total Pages = 3664. I'm not sure which book of yours has 366 pages but the only book you added is Merry, Merry Ghost (288 pages). The total pages would be 3664 + 288 = 3952 pages. If you add the 366-pages book. Group Total Pages would be 3664 + 288 + 366 = 4318 pages.

Thanks Han for looking after the Group Total!

I am so sorry to have messed the total up once again. Apparently I have some mental block. I am new to doing this but poor math is no excuse.
Your correction of 3952 pages is valid. There is no additional book of 366 pages.
The line was supposed to read "3664 + 288 = 3952."

That's great, Han, week 3 is yours!
Thanks, Andrea, that's week 5 to you!
Zainab, you go with week 7, then! Great!
And Anjanette will be checking in March on week 8. Thanks a lot.

Kerri, I thought you were one of the most helpful partners in this challenge in 2018, but also thought you were one of the overburdened ones, which led me to this idea.
I'll start by assigning you to week 6, then.
And whenever there's a checker missing, I'll resort to you! :-)
But of course, you can check or double-check whenever you feel like! As anyone else. Han, for example, has just checked the sum on MY week, how about that? :-)

Don't worry, Almeta! :-) We all do that sometimes. I've just caught another mistake of my own!
Total in message 18 was correct (2,721). I checked, but when I mentioned it being correct, I typed "2,271" !! And there we went wrong again!! :-0
So, that's why we need checkers and double-checkers like Kerri!
Keep reading and posting, guys!

Like Kerri I have often been an unofficial tracker so any week will do. And on that note...
It looks like numbers were transposed in message 19 and then off again at a few other messages. Adding from message 18 forward, I am getting:
Correct Group Total = 5908.

Week 9 will be yours for a start!
5,908 it is! Excellent super checking!! :-)

Welcome to the 2019 Relay Race Reading Challenge!!!
HOW IT WORKS
Post a comment (on the LAST COMMENT PAGE) with the following four things:
1) the COVER of a book you recently read (see below for instructions),
2) the date you completed reading that book,
3) the number of pages in the book you read, and
4) last but not least, sum of all pages read by the group.
ANYONE can post AS MANY TIMES as they want! This is a group effort, folks! You can enter books read for the bookclub AND those read outside of the group.
THE RULES / SOME TIPS
1. How to add a book cover
On the top right of the comment box, you will see a hyperlink "add book/author" (in English).
At the bottom of the window that appears, you'll see two radio buttons "link" and "cover" - please select "cover".
Type the name of the book in the search field and once you click "search", select the correct book. The code will look like the following without the *: [*bookcover:The Catcher in the Rye|5107]
2. How to decide your page count
If hardcopy, use the number of pages in the edition of the book that you read.
If electronic (kindle, nook, etc.), use the number of pages from the kindle edition.
If you listened to a book on tape, use the number of pages from the most popular edition on Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ (when you search a book, the most popular edition is the default).
No genre or page length restrictions, and can be book club group reads OR books you've read outside of the group.
3. Books per post
In general, books per post should be one book as you would be posting the book you most recently finished, but feel free to add more if you have finished multiple books recently!
This is a running tally, so please don't wait and post 20 books at once... wouldn't be much of a relay!
No need to post backdated books. Just start from the day you entered the relay =)
4. Make sure you are on the LAST comment page
As this is a running tally, make sure you are on the LAST COMMENT PAGE before commenting as you want to add your pages read to the last total.
Above the comment box, you'll see the hyperlinks for every comment page, will look like "<< previous 1 2 3 4 5 next >>" or something like this - make sure you're on the highest number. Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ only allows for 50 comments per page.
5. Please double check the math of your post total!!
LET'S RELAY!!!
