A great one-sitting read. Highly recommend! 5/5 stars.

I just recently finished this and was pleasantly surprised how much I liked it.

D.S. Quinton | 7 comments Just finished 'Salem's Lot for the first time. Loved the book, but there wasn't as much gore as I thought there would be. Very little actually.

I'm so glad you enjoyed that one, David. Rainbow Rick broke my heart! :(

Char | 17392 comments Over the weekend I finished reading The Cartel, it was just so damn good. I can't wait for the third novel to come out later this month.

I also read Waiting Out Winter by Kelli Owen by Kelli Owen and enjoyed the heck out of it! It was a creature feature, but not a romping/chomping type of story. More like a view of the end of the world seen through the eyes of one family.

Really enjoyed this one. I love books with a unique format.

RJ - Slayer of Trolls (hawk5391yahoocom) I finished:

It's interesting to see one person raving about the book and a two star review a few posts down. Personally, I loved this book/experience, but I can definitely see how it wouldn't work for everyone.

Char | 17392 comments The Immaculate Void by Brian Hodge -I finished this one last night and was downright AMAZING. All the freaking stars!

I know, right? That was a main reason why I wanted to check it out, just based on the title.

The Demonologist: The Extraordinary Career of Ed and Lorraine Warren

My second attempt at reading something pertaining to the Warrens and it just wasn't for me.

Fish people and YA romance clearly do not mix well together.

Yes I noticed that too. I hate to be a contrarian but, yeah, that book did nothing for me.

Night Things

I expected a simple haunted house story and so the plot twists and revelations caught me by surprise. I especially enjoyed the "smoothness" of the story and writing. The smoothness was probably also the reason why I rated it 4 instead of 5 stars, since the book somehow feels to thin and short when it comes to characters (of sorts) and their relationships with each other. It was often just too hasty and abrupt...

Hey...your opinion is your opinion, whether or not it's popular, and you have the right to express it. Plenty of books people rave about just don't work for me.

I was really into it until literally the half way mark when (view spoiler) and then it went all downhill from there. It's one of those rare situations where the movie was far better.

message 131: by Catherine (new)

Catherine Cavendish | 312 comments The Playing Card Killer by Russell James. Always enjoy this author's books. This one is a bit of a departure for him as it deals with an horrific series of murders, but it certainly racked up the tension and it was a great read.

message 132: by Catherine (new)

Catherine Cavendish | 312 comments City of Spells by Gaby Triana - the third in her haunted Florida trilogy and, possibly, the most powerful yet. Scary and steeped in atmosphere

A strong start that ends with so much back and forth that by the last page, I didn't care about who did what or why.

Erin (ems84) | 8946 comments Every Dead Thing

One of the best prologue's I have read to start off a book, I was really excited to see what the rest of the book contained. Unfortunately, I felt there was too much confusion with the amount of characters crammed into this one book. I had an easier time with the A Song of Ice and Fire series.

I think John Connolly is a talented writer and I would like to give him another shot. The Charlie Parker series might not be for me if all of his books are like this, can anyone recommend any non series books of his?
