Morning, I have five books with CreatSpace and and have ordered some printed copies from Amazon, just to get the ball rolling here in S.A.
As an author you get the books at a cheaper rate, so try them before you have your 1000 printed.
Please let me know about the Free printed copies.

Did you order your printed copies straight through CreateSpace? It's cheaper than going through Amazon. I've found if you order at least ten it's actually cheaper than having that many printed locally. They also send the parcel via a courier. If you send for one copy it's likely to come through the mail (if they're not on strike!)

My CreateSpace advisor sent me an email to say and if I signed my package before a certain date, in addition to my sample copy I would get 30 free copies. So I did. In November I sent a message just to make sure, and I rcd a message back to say I would receive them here on about 12th January. I am very happy with CreateSpace. I have still only two question marks in my mind a) I am getting a Kirkus Indi Review beginning Feb which cost $495 and will that prove to be worth it? b) My Congress of Library number does not bring up my book on their Online catalogue. CreateSpace assure me that they have a copy of my book.
Many thanks for your advice on the printing. I have set up a blog (yesterday) on josscharrer.Wordpress and I am going to tell the story of the successes and failures of my marketing efforts over the year. This is going to be an adventure which I hope will still leave me with enough time to get on with my business.
