Kelleigh (goodreadscomsunshine2047) | 46 comments Hey Friends!

I'm stuck in a reading rut! What is your favorite series of all time? I must get lost in a good read soon! My current favorite is the Fever Series by Karen Marie Moning - followed by the Posion Princess by Kresley Cole. I do like series with continuing characers/ couples. Not a huge fan of a new couple every book.

:)

Look forward to hearing from you!

Lis | 4029 comments Those two series give me a darker UF vibe so I'd recommend:

Kate Daniels series starting with Magic Bites by Ilona Andrews

Disillusionist trilogy starting with Mind Games by Carolyn Crane

If you like Zombies, Aftertime series Aftertime by Sophie Littlefield

Dystopian series Angelfall by Susan Ee

Or the Hollows series Dead Witch Walking by Kim Harrison

Valerie ~ Val Hall ~ | 9645 comments lol, it so happens that the second book of the Angelfall series is on sale....

World After (Penryn & the End of Days, #2) by Susan Ee by Susan Ee is reduced to $1.99.

Kelleigh (goodreadscomsunshine2047) | 46 comments I'm reading Angelfall right now actually!

I love the hallows series - didn't care uch for Magic Bites... I will try the Disillusionist Trilogy - thank you!

:)

message 5: by Lis (new)

Lis | 4029 comments Magic Bites and the Hollows get better after the first couple of books in the series... I think it's all the world dump set up.

I just finished the Poison Princess books this week and was thinking worlds all messed up by some catastrophe...

Nalini Singh's Gulid Hunter series is dark too with a little more romance Angels' Blood

message 6: by Anita Reads (last edited Oct 01, 2014 09:31AM) (new)

Anita Reads | 595 comments I love Vampire Academy series: Vampire Academy and Bloodlines Bloodlines mostly the latter, but they're both great I think, so if you haven't read them yet I'll recommend them.
Vampire Academy (Vampire Academy, #1) by Richelle Mead Bloodlines (Bloodlines, #1) by Richelle Mead

I also really liked the Lux Series Obsidian (Lux, #1) by Jennifer L. Armentrout by Jennifer L. Armentrout, but I've only read the first in that series.

They're not dark UF as the ones Lis recommended, but I loved them.

I also just stumbled upon Poison Study (Study, #1) by Maria V. Snyder which I really loved!

message 7: by Anita Reads (new)

Anita Reads | 595 comments I like the Hollow series, too, with all the action (I've so far only read book 1 and 2) but I just miss some more romance. I'm a sucker for romance.

message 8: by Lis (new)

The Kate Daniels series gets much better in the subsequent books. You'd be missing something if you didn't read the next couple books in the series.

message 14: by Kelleigh (new)

Kelleigh (goodreadscomsunshine2047) | 46 comments I've actually read them all...I know I'm the minority, I just didn't care for them at all. :(

message 20: by Patricia (new)

Patricia Nghtwalker series is great. Jacob first, then Gideon, Elijah, Damien, Noah and Adam.

message 21: by Patricia (new)

Patricia Kresley Cole's "Immortals after dark" series already has 15 books in it, the last one being "Dark Skye". not sure if it's finished but it's a start. 1st one is 'A hunger like no other'

message 22: by Kelleigh (new)

Kelleigh (goodreadscomsunshine2047) | 46 comments I'm mostly looking for series with the same characters in each book. I've read books where each book features a new couple, but I'd rather have the copule continue on. Any recommendations with that requirement?

: )

message 23: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25827 comments Kelleigh, what you are looking for are classified as Urban Fantasy.

message 27: by Kelleigh (new)

Kelleigh (goodreadscomsunshine2047) | 46 comments haha - good choices Jenny but I have read all of the above minus the Women of the Otherworld - don't they have different couples in each book? That's my only hesitation.

message 28: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32521 comments That series is a bit of a mix, Kelleigh. I would classify it as UF + R. There are different couples, but not in each book. It's not like PNR with a new couple/HEA in each, but rather a mix of paranormals (shifters and witches mainly, but some demons, a vamp and others mixed in). Each book kinda focuses more on one "group" of characters within the world, but they are all connected in some way. It's difficult to explain, maybe someone else can jump in and explain it better. I enjoyed the series and would recommend it if you like a mix of supes in your series.

Lis | 4029 comments I've honestly picked thru the series and read the Clay and Elena stories and Savannah's too. But the Tales of the Otherworld and Men of the Otherworld collections were a great wrap up read following the books filling in a lot of the back story for this world and great in audio...

message 31: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32521 comments ;) Narrator is a good way to show who each book focuses on, Lis.

Character/Supe breakdown:
Elena and the Danvers are shifters (werewolf) Winterbourne, Cortez and Levine are witches/warlocks
Hope Adams is a 1/2 demon
Cassandra is a vamp (Kelley Armstrong's vamps are very different from most and not really the focus of this series)
Jaime Vegas is a necromancer/sees & speaks to the dead
