✿C±ô²¹¾±°ù±ð✿ (clairelm) | 1222 comments Fantastic Anima!

I'll be updating the spreadsheet tonight. Can I ask a favour though, post in the thread if your book counts for a buddy read or BOM, I tend to go off a mixture of the thread and everyone's books shelves so I often miss those I think :) Most of you do already, but just in case I'm missing some :)

Anima Miejska | 757 comments Sure thing, everything to help our Captain :D

message 59: by Danielle (new)

Danielle (thatcrazymama) Hi everyone!

I read How to Bake a Perfect Life by Barbara O'Neal as a buddy read, so that's a total of 20 pts for the book and 30pts for the buddy read! :)

That's another 50 pts from me! and starting a new book with a buddy read today!

Generally it's the edition read, but in that case, I'll check and find out for you :)

Your last book wasn't on your shelf when I updated earlier, just to let you know :)

I hate it when it does that, I usually end up with a huge string of duplicates :) I've asked about the other one though, I'll let you know as soon as I hear :)

I'm double checking with what's shelved each time I update anyway :)

✿C±ô²¹¾±°ù±ð✿ (clairelm) | 1222 comments We think the Kindle edition is wrong so going for the 304 as the page length :)

Anima Miejska | 757 comments I have finished A Tale for the Time Being by Ruth Ozeki , which is 20 points (I was listening to it, but the paper and hardcover are 422 pages, so it counts 20 points). I was wondering, if the book is a class assignement for the discussion that we have today - can this count as a buddy read even if it is in Real Life, not here on GR?

Oh, thank you for the reply! I somehow missed this information.

Well, the book was ok, but not anything special. I love magic realism, but this book was trying to be one without much success. It has an interesting cultural components, and some really heart-breaking parts about difficult family relationships. All in all, an interesting read, but you do not miss anything if you skip it.

message 78: by Cathie (new)

Cathie (catitude) | 999 comments Thanks for the info on the book Anima. I have it on my TBR shelf and was wondering if I should move it up or just let it stay where it is; I think i'll let it stay there for awhile.

I love magical realism (my favourite genre) but only if there is an really good story behind it.

message 79: by Anima (last edited Dec 02, 2014 10:55AM) (new)

Anima Miejska | 757 comments I love this genre as well, and here I would say it was used to wrap up the plot and give an excuse for certain events to occur, not as an integral part of the story. I would definitely recommend you to leave it as it is on your TBR ;)

Kelsi | 1182 comments Just finished The Girl with All the Gifts by M.R. Carey (460 pages) for 50 points! It can be added to the challenge thread now Anima :)

It was great! I gave it five stars. I didn't want to put it down (which is really bad since I have two exams this week!) It's one of those books that stays exciting right up to the end. I would highly recommend it :)

message 84: by Anima (new)

Anima Miejska | 757 comments Wow, Kelsi, that is a great recommendation! I have it on my TBR and may put it a little bit higher now :)

Anima Miejska | 757 comments I have just finished A Study in Scarlet (Sherlock Holmes, #1) by Arthur Conan Doyle for the Save Christmas Challenge, and I am wondering if we read the book toward the challenge, we still get points for the page count...

✿C±ô²¹¾±°ù±ð✿ (clairelm) | 1222 comments I believe so Anima but I'll double check :)

message 92: by Anima (new)

Anima Miejska | 757 comments Thanks, Claire. If so, I have 10 points for Sherlock's story as it has 108 pages :)

✿C±ô²¹¾±°ù±ð✿ (clairelm) | 1222 comments Anima, yes, it counts for both :-)

✿C±ô²¹¾±°ù±ð✿ (clairelm) | 1222 comments I'll do the next update on Saturday, been in shift today and back out tomorrow so I won't get near a computer for long enough to do the update.

message 99: by Cathie (new)

Cathie (catitude) | 999 comments Anima, Wade (main character) in Ready Player One can be used as a good guy for the Christmas Challenge; what do you think; do we still need to fill that category?

message 100: by Anima (new)

Anima Miejska | 757 comments Definitely, Cathie. We still need three more books there, so I will put it Ready Player One in the quest list :) Thanks, Cathie!
