Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy
question
George Smiley
I thought that Gary Oldman's portrayal in the 2011 movie was fairly close to the description and personality of George Smiley in the book. I have not seen the movie that featured Alec Guinness.
As far as I am aware, when this film was being thought about LeCarre was consulted and it was he who wanted a change of settings for some of the scene's. So for Jim's venture was concerned it was Hungary not Czechoslovakia, I found the film a little disorientating after being mesmerised by the original BBC production. Likewise with Smileys People, although Peter Guillams replacement lacked the panache of the Tinker Tailor version.
