Leslie, I can't wait until you read this to see what you will think of it!

I really liked the book. I'm still torn about who I want America to be with.
On one hand, I like that she is able to always be herself with Aspen. I also like that she is the one that is ahead of him in society, especially now that she is a Three. A lot of books and movies feature a female being pulled up in society by a male. I love the idea of it being the other way around for one.
Yet, the prince is just so very charming!
I can't wait for the second book, but I'm number 8 on the wait list.

I really liked Aspen but then when he broke it off with America I didn't like him as much. I'm ready to read book 3 and I am still torn about who I want America to be with. The Prince does some silly stuff in book 2 and I 'm just not sure of Aspen's intentions.
Yes I agree with you about the Caste system.
take a look at some of my spoilers above and see if you agree or disagree with anything I 've posted.

I think that Aspen broke up with her because (view spoiler) . Yet, I think that's a silly reason. He she know that she is much more then just a number. If he knows what she wants, then why end it? I don't like when one character thinks they are doing what is best for the other. As if that would change the heart break? Also, it makes it seem like the one who is trying to be all noble knows more than the other. I think everyone knows what they want and should consider what would actually make the other happy, not what they think is best or what they think the other needs. Ugh.
This is an "Informal Buddy Read"
An “Informal Buddy Read doesn’t have a discussion leader and participants are asked to consider some generic questions when making comments about the book. An example is here.
Book synopsis
For thirty-five girls, the Selection is the chance of a lifetime. The opportunity to escape the life laid out for them since birth. To be swept up in a world of glittering gowns and priceless jewels. To live in a palace and compete for the heart of gorgeous Prince Maxon.
But for America Singer, being Selected is a nightmare. It means turning her back on her secret love with Aspen, who is a caste below her. Leaving her home to enter a fierce competition for a crown she doesn't want. Living in a palace that is constantly threatened by violent rebel attacks.
Then America meets Prince Maxon. Gradually, she starts to question all the plans she's made for herself--and realizes that the life she's always dreamed of may not compare to a future she never imagined
