My one hope for Best Artist is Richard Anderson. Cover art for The Black Hawks and Bloody Rose. Also Lauren Panepinto who did the covers for A Little Hatred and A Boy and His Dog at the End of the World
Thank you for Best Related works, that section is completely blank.
In order to make Team#2 list more representative (and win), I make suggestions:
@Kate: we have 3 of your novels, 1 novella. I'm ready to add your novellas if you think they are better, as well as novelettes
@Silvana: our list are quite different (IIRC you're voting as well, right?) so if you want to join the team please state your preferences
@Antti as Team#1 leader: I will gladly discuss conditions on joining our lists.

@Oleksandr: We will only accept unconditional surrender! Long live Team#1!
Just kidding. I think the only novels we will not compromise over is They Will Drown in Their Mothers' Tears and Children of Ruin: those were five-star novels for both of us. If they are on the final list, we're golden.

Children of Ruin are in team#2 list as well, so no problem. As to They Will Drown in Their Mothers' Tears, I'm ready to include it instead of Famous Men Who Never Lived. What about shorter works? I'm ready to drop the last two novellas

I made a mistake - Travelers season 3 is not eligible this year for BDP Long form, it's a Dec. 2018 release.

Re the voting, I don't care if you pick either of them, but I have noticed that Bujold's always seem to get nominated. She has two this year, and I really liked the one I read. Knife Children. The other may be more likely, though. It's in the World of the 5 Gods. But obviously, at this stage, it's just which ones WE like better.
Hey, we shall see if my taste is closer to the average when the nominees actually come out, and then I can go nyah nyah! (Remember, I won the nominee-guessing for the Hugo last year, I think. I've slept since then.) Why did I choose more correctly? Because I think you guys like a better quality of literature than I do. It's just my low taste in books--it lets me guess what the average fan will like, that's all!

I did not particularily like Famous Men Who Never Lived by K. Chess. It felt boring and pointless. The rest, I guess, are as good as any other.
I didn't like The Test novella either, but that's because it was grim and a downer. I never like anything that is grim and a downer

Hey, Z, I said I would pay for the membership next year, and I will, but you guys may have to do the collection and decide the final ballot again, because--I shall be traveling end of Feb, first of March. I know, I always am then--yes, and I will as long as I can.
Thanks, just remind me when I need to pay next year.

I am not sure. As you said, our list is very different and since I have not read most of team 2 novel and novellas i don't know how to combine with my already full list. (The ones I read, Ten Thousand Doors and Walking to Aldebaran, both won't be my pick at all :D)
For other categories, feel free to use some of mine if needed.
And yes I will be voting.

Good tip! I think I'll also update my list with editors (at least for the short form).
If I combine Team#1 and Team#2 and add graphic stories from Ed , I get this list (Note: Astounding Award has two names: I'd like to nominate Arkady Martine instead of Polk, if we're dropping Memory Called Empire from Best Novel)

Somewhere, someone said that they had wrongly nominated Travelers: Season 3 because it came out in 2018. I checked and the release on Netflix date is 2018, mid-December.
So I think, Annti, you should pick something else . . .
So I think, Annti, you should pick something else . . .

My reading preferences aren't mainstream. Monstress, Saga, and Paper Girls are all more likely to actually win, as well as any Super-Spider-Man-Woman-type things that came out last year. So, do with my suggestions as you see fit.
Antti wrote: "I'd like to nominate Arkady Martine instead of Polk, if we're dropping Memory Called Empire from Best Novel"
Arkady Martine is unfortunately not eligible for the Astounding Award, as she's been publishing short fiction since 2012.
Separately: Chernobyl is on the Hugo eligibility list spreadsheet, so I think it is counted. It's not *speculative* science fiction, but it is very much fiction about science. Similarly, Hidden Figures was nominated in 2017.

Hi all!
I started entering our nominations in advance. Found out that The Serpent isn't from 2019, so 1 place free in novellas
Also see if you can add a nice short story and best series

So, now we can start a new thread "guess Hugo nominees". What do you people prefer - novel only or like last year, novels, novellas etc with smaller works getting less weight

Did we try to guess the Hugo nominees last year? Winners, yes, but I don't recall any thread predicting the nominees.
But if we're going to do it this year, I'd go for simplicitys sake for just the novels.
