In the silent book club everyone brings their own book or E-reader and reads together quietly for an hour, then we all nerd out about books afterward.

We kick off the meeting with a quick round of introductions where everyone says their name and a little about what they're reading. We love hearing about what people are reading (often in their other book clubs).

I gave up on a book last week. I rarely do that. How often do you guys give up on books?

For me, when I start a book I try very hard to finish it unless it is very horrible. Last year, I believe I only gave up on one book. Enjoy Reading, 📚

Whenever it bores me before I hit the fifty-first page. Or if I can't read it because either the type is too danged small for me to see and decipher or it's in a language like Flemish (which I can't read to BEGIN with) and there's no freaking English translation available... .

In other words, far too often.

The situation I spoke of where the font was too small to read or decipher AND it was in Flemish really did happen to me.

Amber Martingale | 340 comments The aforementioned book in Flemish had also been published in the 1930s, but was in pretty damn good condition for a book that old...90+ years old!

Lesley | 111 comments I got an audiobook from Netgalley and of course they do not let me get a sample of the narrator. I barely got through 2 hours of the over acting, over pronouncing of every syllable. It was awful. I feel like if they gave me the book to read, it might be actually decent.

Amber Martingale | 340 comments What was the name of the book?

Amber Martingale | 340 comments I was just curious, Lesley.

Amber - message Lesley directly to get the name of the book. Enjoy Reading, 📚

message 13: by Amber (new)

Amber Martingale | 340 comments I tried that. Couldn't get to the message form without asking her to be a Friend.

The Summoning by J.P. Smith
Sorry the late response, I did not see your message. I have a bad habit of not looking at the group on my app and only go on the group when on a computer.

I was at Barnes and Noble just today and saw this book was in the newly released table so I hope for those reading the novel, its better than my audiobook experience!

Amber Martingale | 340 comments It happens, Lesley. I have a smartphone but removed my Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ app when I could no longer remember my original password...not to mention that I only get 4.5GB of data a month and Belleville, IL. has very few places with FREE WiFi that DON'T require passwords... .
