This is the May bookclub read. Please mark ALL SPOILERS for those reading along this month so they can join in on the discussions. Thank you !

I'm surprised to see no one has started a thread for If It Bleeds! Looks like it's coming out in April now and so we'll read it for our May book club read.

Erin (ems84) | 2626 comments I'm happy it's coming out earlier.

message 4: by Kandice (new)

Kandice | 4383 comments I was also happy to see it would come out early. Do you think it had anything to do with what's going on? Or was it just a happy mistake?

Jenny a.k.a....Jenny from the block | 725 comments Good question maybe has something to do with what’s going on....

Not sure but if I had to guess, it probably has to do with what is going on.

Amazon says the 21st as well.

message 8: by Kristin (new)

Kristin “If it bleeds is a collection of several short stories, right? But it’s also the second book in the Holly Gibney series? Does that mean that all of the stories are about Holly?

It doesn’t really matter, though, I’m so excited for this book anyway!!

I think it is four novellas, and only one of them is about Holly.

You are, of course, right. I just seem to remember that it said somewhere here on ŷ that "the Outsider" was the first book in a Holly Gibney series, and that "if it bleeds" was the second... I might be wrong

Twice, they've moved its release sooner. If they continue that trend, you might already have it!"

Guess I'd better check my library again. :-)

message 14: by Eric (new)

Eric Johns (genericeric) | 4 comments I just bought it off Ebay from a reputable seller. From the looks of it, I'll be receiving it in about a week or so. I guess they already have copies on hand.

I wonder how they received advanced copies.

message 16: by Kellie (new)

Kellie | 106 comments I am hoping I will be able to buy a copy. I’m in New Zealand and because of the lockdown we can only get essentials. I can’t order any books and no shops open. 12 more days to go...if we come out of lockdown on the date expected.

If you can read an e-book you will be able to get it immediately without worrying about delivery. Download the Kindle App from amazon or iTunes and you can read it right on your phone or computer.

message 19: by Kellie (new)

Kellie | 106 comments Yeah I thought about downloading the ebook on to my iPad as I do have the kindle app. However, I find that i get a headache and sore eyes from reading on that. I think it might be because of the blue light. Although I just saw we can order a kindle online as an essential item...Or I could just be patient and wait til we can buy books again.

message 20: by Kandice (new)

Kandice | 4383 comments I'm not home so will definitely be downloading and reading the book on my phone.

message 26: by Kandice (new)

Kandice | 4383 comments Yes! I love his voice so much. I always feel like he needs a tissue, and that affectation has become very dear to me,

Eric Johns (genericeric) | 4 comments Michael wrote: "Soooo, have you finished it yet?"

nah, not yet. I'm typically a slow reader the first time I read a new King book. I have to savor it as much as I can.

message 28: by Kandice (new)

Kandice | 4383 comments I am away from home, but just found out my copy was delivered! Aaaargh. I may need to buy the ebook just so I don't have to wait until I get home next week.

Mari I ordered it for my upcoming birthday!

Kellie | 106 comments I ended up getting the audiobook from audible because we are still in lockdown here in NZ...but shops will begin to open again for contactless and online shopping in 6 days. So then I will be able to get a physical copy. Can’t wait 😊

I got the audiobook. Will start listening soon. I'm still reading the Tommyknockers and enjoying it. I'm looking forward to your review though... very much.

Now I want to dive into Tommyknockers too! I had planned on reading with you guys, but... you know, life. I only read If it Bleeds so quickly because it was new and I was stuck with nothing else to do! I think I'll start T tonight.

I'm looking forward to reviewing If it Bleeds. I love his novella collections and I feel this may be his strongest format.

Some of his real classics are Novellas.

message 40: by Kellie (new)

Kellie | 106 comments I agree. Different Seasons is one of my favourites. He seems to do his best work in this format.

I love that cover!!

message 42: by Derrick (new)

Derrick | 950 comments I have both the ebook and the physical book versions of this on hold at the library. I will read whichever one I can get first. The library is supposed to open on May 4th. We'll see if it actually happens or not.

Maybe it was sold out where I went.

message 49: by Kellie (new)

Kellie | 106 comments Ok so we are out of lockdown and can now purchase non-essential items...but can’t find anywhere that actually has it in stock. It may be a longer wait.

message 50: by Joan (new)

Joan (joanofsnark) | 79 comments Agreed Michael. Teleworking and unduly stressed, books are certainly essential. I didn’t want to wait weeks so I got up early last Saturday, headed to Walmart, and now engaging in my bit of self care...reading King’s exquisite novel of short stories.
