Joanna Loves Reading (joannalovesreading) Welcome everyone to our August 2020 Classics Group Read; this month we'll be reading through The Invisible Man by H.G. Wells.

Friendly reminder that this is our spoiler-free thread. If you're ready to talk spoilers, feel free to head on over to the spoilers thread.

Who is joining in this read? Will it be your first time reading or is this a reread? How long have you been meaning to read this book?

¹ó°ù²¹²Ô³¦±ð-´¡²Ô»å°ùé±ð (iphigenie72) | 413 comments It’s my first read, I loved The Time Machine so I’m looking forward to this one. I think this has been on my radar since I saw the Claude Rains movie decades ago, but it was never on my TBR.

My first time reading anything by H.G.Wells, who is known as the father of SciFi. I've never been a big fan of SciFi, but will try this one to see if I can learn to like the genre better.

Renee, it’s available for free here: . I wish I could read along with you, but I’ve over-committed myself this month to a gazillion books.

Izzy Sargent (izzysargent) | 5 comments I'm joining in! This is my first time reading it, and this month is the first time I'm joining in on Group reads. (I am doing more than this one, but it's among the first.)

I only recently created my TBR, so it hasn't been on it long. I have never really read any sci-fi, and only seen a few movies, so it'll be a new experience for me!

I'm very excited to read along with others, as well as try a new genre! :)

Jordan Smith | 3 comments I started reading The Invisible Man yesterday, and I’m already excited to see what happens. I too have been thinking about Ellison’s book.

message 15: by Kirsten (new)

Kirsten (kmcripn) It's been years since I read this. I am looking forward to re-read it. I love Wells.

Sarah | 342 comments Just starting the audiobook. I've never read this one before and it's only my second HG Wells.
Looking forward to it!

message 17: by Lana (new) - rated it 3 stars

Lana | 138 comments I am really struggling to get into this one. I'm a little disappointed in myself for not enjoying it. How can I call myself a sci-fi fan if I don't like H.G. Wells?! Anyway, I'm going to power through and hopefully it will get better.

message 18: by Cris (new)

Cris I've just started reading the book and I must say I'm quite surprised. I don't usually enjoy sci-fi but I really like this one (at least for now)

Jennifer | 341 comments This is a first read for me. Just started today.
