A book everyone seems to have read but you.

Okay, so I really love this category, because - although I read a lot - so often I'll say "I'm the last person on this planet to read this book" (and sometimes it's true!)

Although this is unique for each reader, I thought a Listopia might still be helpful, to inspire ideas. Oh yeah! THAT book! Everyone has read that but me!! Listopia for "everyone has read it but me"

Lauren Oertel | 764 comments These lists are always waaay too classics-heavy for my taste, but I might be able to find one or two on here I'm not opposed to reading. ;) /list/show/6...

message 3: by Drakeryn (new)

Drakeryn | 708 comments I've never read a Rick Riordan book or a Sarah J. Maas book. I feel like those are the biggest popular authors that I've never even tried.

message 4: by Charlotte (new)

Charlotte | 74 comments I also check out the books that have the most ŷ ratings periodically and see what I haven't read... I'll probably do that for this challenge.

message 5: by Brandon (new)

Brandon Harbeke | 696 comments This could go a lot of ways, but my first instinct is to use Emma by Jane Austen.

Taylor | 17 comments Where the crawdads sing for me

message 7: by Dixie (new)

Dixie (dixietenny) I'm not looking forward to it but I own a copy so I'll finally read Lord of the Flies.

message 8: by Irene (new)

Irene Ritman (ireneireen) | 9 comments @drakeryn I fully recommend Rick Riordan, especially the first Percy books!

message 9: by Irene (new)

Irene Ritman (ireneireen) | 9 comments I’ve never read anything by George R. Martin, so here goes...

It isn’t that bad!

I’m doing The Hate U Give

message 11: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm planning on either The Martian or Eat, Pray, Love.

Probably the Martian. :)

message 12: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 91 comments I've been working for years to fill in all the books that are commonly assigned in school but I missed somehow (despite being an English major). It might be time to check off The Catcher in the Rye.

I really enjoyed The Martian!

Well, after two enthusiastic recs, my choice is made. The Martian it is!!

Thanks, folx! :)

Laura Miles | 244 comments This might be a good time to re-brows the "over one million ratings list"

/list/show/3...

message 20: by K.L. (new)

K.L. Middleton (theunapologeticbookworm) | 816 comments I think I may use Outlander for this prompt. I had a chance to hear the author give a talk at a library event several years ago, and I'm pretty sure I was the only person in the audience who had never read any of the books.

message 21: by SadieReadsAgain (new)

SadieReadsAgain (sadiestartsagain) | 767 comments Oh, it's got to be Girl, Woman, Other for me.

message 22: by Kara (new)

Kara (madhatter360) | 54 comments My first thought for this prompt was Fifty Shades of Grey and I refuse.

Maybe I'll finally give Jane Eyre or A Game of Thrones a try

That's a great idea. Thank you.

Stephanie | 19 comments Irene wrote: "I’ve never read anything by George R. Martin, so here goes..."

I read the first two of the series this year at my fiance's prompting, and I loved them! They might be easier to follow if you've seen the show first. Book 1 lines up perfectly with season 1.

Erica | 1225 comments Lauren wrote: "These lists are always waaay too classics-heavy for my taste, but I might be able to find one or two on here I'm not opposed to reading. ;) /list/show/6......"

You could just use a filter on your tbr list for the most ratings. That way everyone means people with similar reading tastes to you.

message 26: by Erica (new)

Erica | 1225 comments Right now, I think I'm slating The Martian in but there are tons of options for me.

My thoughts exactly with Fifty Shades! Can't do it.

All of those are pretty solid reading choices. The Hobbit is the most episodic, in case that influences your choice. A Wrinkle in Time is probably the strangest but happiest of the group.

If you’re going to try Rick Riordan I recommended starting with The Lost Hero. The Heroes of Olympus series are my absolute favorites by him, and his writing is much better after all that practice with the Percy Jackson series!

message 31: by Elinore (new)

Elinore | 20 comments I have never read any of the Harry Potter books!!
So this will be the prompt I go to Hogwarts I guess ;D

Oh yeah I forgot about Eat, Pray, Love, thanks!

message 33: by Gabi (new)

Gabi | 16 comments Since I still haven't managed to read 1984, it will be my choice for this prompt.

message 34: by Teri (last edited Dec 18, 2020 06:03PM) (new)

Teri (teria) | 1554 comments I should probably read Dune. It seems to be the book that people talk about the most that I haven't read.

Humble brag: I've read 52 of the books on the list (it is currently at 117). I'm a conformist. And I'm old.

message 35: by Pam (new)

Pam (bluegrasspam) Outlander, Lord of the Rings, Jane Eyre, or anything by James Patterson - my first thoughts.

message 36: by Denise (new)

Denise | 372 comments I'll read A Man Called Ove.

I've read a couple of his other books, just not that one.

message 37: by Ashleigh (new)

Ashleigh Motbey (ashybear02) | 144 comments I'll be reading Station Eleven for this one

message 38: by nitisha (new)

nitisha | 11 comments I’m planning to read Thinking Fast and Slow by Daniel Kahneman for this. I usually shy away from non-fiction but this book has been recommended to me way too many times now

message 39: by Darci (new)

Darci Day | 164 comments I'm trying to work some classics in this year, so I'll go with Dracula for this.

message 40: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Heaney | 210 comments I'll be reading A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara

message 41: by Jory (new)

Jory (pretentiousname) | 4 comments Still have never read Fahrenheit 451, guess I'll use that as my prompt.

message 42: by Meagan (last edited Dec 27, 2020 09:09AM) (new)

Meagan | 44 comments I have so many options for this prompt. I'm trying to decide between LoTR, The Way Of Kings, Pride and Prejudice, The Hate You Give, finishing the ToG series or Gone Girl.

message 43: by Meagan (new)

Meagan | 44 comments I just checked out the list and now i have more books to decide between (Becoming, Rebecca, The Handmaid's Tale, The Secret History and the Vanishing Half). This will be a hard prompt to complete. Too many options lol

I'm always in favor of people reading Pride and Prejudice. Have you read anything else by Jane Austen? I love her so much.

Rebecca and The Secret History are two of my favorite books.

message 46: by Jenni (new)

Jenni (jennigray) | 29 comments All of my friends seem to have read, and recommended, Pachinko, so that's what I'm opting for, I think.

Pachinko: The New York Times Bestseller

message 47: by Meagan (new)

Meagan | 44 comments @Sandra I have not read anything by Austen yet. I have been meaning to read something of hers for years. Would you say pride and prejudice is a good place to start?

message 48: by Meagan (new)

Meagan | 44 comments @Milena I'm thinking I should read the Secret History for the dark academia prompt or the 1990's bestseller now. so I think I will read it but not for this prompt. Rebecca is a good contender. I might read that LoTR or Pride and Prejudice.

Pride and Prejudice is a great place to start! It was originally published anonymously, if that helps you fit it in. It also has something of a do-over in it.
