A place to discuss books with the theme "Shapeshifter" for our 2021 reading challenge.

Amanda | 257 comments I've just read Foxfire, Wolfskin and other stories of shapeshifting women. All the stories are based on European folklore. I listened to the Audible edition and highly recommend this format in particular as it suits the lyrical/poetic quality of the author's (Sharon Blackie) writing.

If the author sounds familiar, she also wrote the non-fiction If Women Rose Rooted: The Power of the Celtic Woman, which is about the relationship between women and the landscape.

A classic for this category would be Someplace to Be Flying byCharles de Lint
I've read it already but would highly recommend it!
De Lint has a YA series based on the same mythology as the adult book someplace to be flying called the wildling series.
The first one is Under My Skin

I read Sorrowland by Rivers Solomon for this category, and it was excellent.

Some other recommendations:
When the Tiger Came Down the Mountain by Nghi Vo
The Brides of Rollrock Island by Margo Lanagan
You Let Me In by Camilla Bruce
One of our current reads, The Master and Margarita by Mikhail Bulgakov
The Fox Woman by Kij Johnson

I could find more but I'll stop here!

Ozsaur | 241 comments Mary, your Andre Norton suggestion reminded me of The Jargoon Pard.

Mary and Margaret, I like you lists. I'm having trouble settling on a shapeshifter novel.
