The Two towers is also great. I really like all they have of the Roherim- Theoden and Eomer. Also I really like Faramir.
Merry and Pippin are so funny. It was very sad when Boromir died.

I'm currently reading this and my favorite character so far, I think is Gandalf. He acts like a real leader should act! I haven't come across Faramir yet...

Just wait for Faramir.... Just wait. I also like Eomer, but I like Faramir more.

I was talking with a friend and he said that Faramir is too soft, like he doesn't do anything big, like Aragorn. I do agree, I suppose, but I like him for his character.

HOW DARE THAT FRIEND!!!!!!!! THey must be thinking of the movie Faramir, who is soft. But not the book Faramir. The quest would have been ruined if he hadn't refused the ring. Aragorn is so lofty and high, he is difficult to relate to. Faramir is more relateble but sooo good.
"But fear no more! I would not take this thing if it lay by the highway. Not if Minas Tirith were falling in ruin, and I alone could save her, so, using the weapon of the dark lord for her good and my glory. No, I do not wish for such triumphs Frodo, son of Drogo."

“Here was one with an air of high nobility such as Aragorn at times revealed, less high perhaps, yet also less incalculable and remote: one of the Kings of Men born into a later time, but touched with the wisdom and sadness of the Eldar Race. He knew now why Beregond spoke his name with love. He was a captain that men would follow, that he would follow, even under the shadow of the black wings.

I love his relationship with Aragorn.
“Suddenly Faramir stirred, and he opened his eyes, and he looked on Aragorn who bent over him; and a light of knowledge and love was kindled in his eyes, and he spoke softly. 'My lord, you called me. I come. What does the king command?
Okay fine, I may be fangirl of Faramir. But it is fine since he is from a book. Fangirling over actors, now, is silly. (Glares at Orlando Bloom as Legolas, not able to express how much I hate him.)

Yes they are funny. But they are quite different from the movie actually aren't they? Especially Merry.

Yup! After this chapter, I'll be onto "The Taming Of Smeagol" whre Faramir steps into the book. :)

Umm, I'd say, yes, they are quite different but they are kind of similar too. I like their character in the book better than their character in the movie.

Me too (of course)
I think they changed Merry quite a lot. He is actually the most sensible of the Hobbits I think, and before they came to Rivendell hewas sort of theleader:-)

Yes, I would say they changed Merry. Definitely the most sensible, I agree! Yes, I noticed that too, actually. Just let me tell you, the book is way way way better than the movie like 90 to 1. :-)
