Characters are the ones who can make or break a book. We all enjoy reading about characters who we can relate to and understand.
What are your favourite tropes or traits that you like seeing in main characters? Comment below!

Maitha (imaithany) | 11 comments Well ... I wanna say something not sure if this is the right thread but anyway, I will say the thing I don't like. This applies to all characters, specifically the villains. I don't like it when they justify their actions by something that happened to them in the past. I understand that everyone will have a different reaction to their experiences but this is something that annoys me A LOT. You want me to feel sorry for them by mentioning this?? Nope, not gonna happen. I feel sorry for the victim not the villain. Okay okay they were victims too ..etc, but why would they use that as an excuse?? For example justifying bullying by (oh they had a horrible childhood)
I'm not sure if I made my point clearly, but lol I got excited because this really annoys me.

I agree on this! A tragic backstory should excuse a characters actions. It can definitely explain certain action, but it shouldn’t be an excuse to act a certain way.
