Roger N. (rdominick) | 6 comments So, I just found out that Clive Barker has written a new horror novel that crosses the Art books with Hellraiser. To tell you the truth, I don't know how I feel about that, but I think I'm looking forward to reading it; this also gives me a good excuse to re-read at least "Everville" again. The last Barker book I read was "Coldheart Canyon", and that in the year it came out. I've never been able to finish one of his YAs.

I just finished the first one, and there's not even a date for it, but I am really looking forward to Peter F. Hamilton's "The Night Without Stars". At some point before that, I may go back and read "Misspent Youth", the Commonwealth book I haven't read yet.

Anyway, I need more books to put on my "read in the future" list -- so what are you looking forward to?

Roger N. (rdominick) | 6 comments Also, after I found out about "The Scarlet Gospels", I went on a round of seeing if anyone else I read had a new book coming out, and I actually searched to see if Iain Banks had anything new, because I'd forgotten. Sigh.

C M | 7 comments I think you'll find Misspent Youth being quite the departure from the rest of the series. I read it and very much enjoyed it, then hopped onto the first proper book in the saga and, well, didn't enjoy it all that much. I will return to it but I suppose I was expecting a continuation in the same writing style at least and that certainly was not the case.

As for books I am looking forward to: the sixth and final book in Knausgård's Min Kamp series (My Struggle in the English translation, though only books 1-3 are out so far). The entire series is absolutely fantastic and I feel like the final book (a 1200 page beast) deserves the proper time and place to read it. So I am saving it until I feel that I can really dedicated some proper time to reading it over a couple weeks or so.

Dustin (8one6) Kareem Abdul Jabbar has written a novel about Mycroft Holmes that I want to pick up at some point.

Kyle I mean, with the announcement today, I gotta say I'm at least curious about To Kill A Mockingbird 2.

Beyond that, both Neil Gaiman and Jonathan Lethem have short story collections, there's a new Erik Larson book about the Lusitania, the second and third books of Abercrombie's YA trilogy are due out later this year, and I'm definitely interested in the new Franzen (though i'm prepared for the hype to be ridiculous). I've also heard rumors of a new Salman Rushdie book as well. Oh! And Kazuo Ishiguro's first novel in like 10 years.

Plenty of good stuff to look forward to.
