Ooh what'd you think of the Renegades series and Serendipity??

message 14: by Laura (new)

Laura ☾ | 861 comments I enjoyed the Renegades series! It was fun.

Like most anthologies Serendipity was a bit hit and miss with some of the stories but overall super cute!

You've already finished the A-Z challenge?? Awesome job, Laura! You have a lot of great looking books! Which was your favorite? Is there a contemporary you read this month that you would recommend?

I think House of sky and breath was probably my favourite for the month!

Contemporary books - From Lukov and Act Your Age Eve Brown were rereads and they’re both great! One Night on the Island was great as well!

Brittany | 6358 comments Mod
Awesome stats Laura!

Yeah? House of Breath and Sky was good? So is Maas using the same kind of tropes or doing something different especially with her love story this time around? I haven't decided whether I am going to read the series yet.

How are you liking the Plated Prisoner series? Also how was Castles in their bones? I'm curious about that one.

message 19: by Laura (new)

Laura ☾ | 861 comments Similar king of tropes for House of Sky and Breath but a bit more grown up I would say? Deals a lot more with Grief and depression etc. Also the ending absolutely blew my mind she’s doing something very different than th this series.

The Plated Prisoner series was alright - the first book was not great but people had warned me of that so I stuck with it - although parts of it are very much reminiscent of ACOMAF so it’s alright

I actually rather enjoyed castles in their bones! I’m curious to see where the story will go

Thank you! I think I will get around to reading it then. I do love her books.
Good to know, I have read a couple books by the author and enjoyed them so was curious about Plated Prisoner.
Yay! I plan on trying to listen to it

Ah, yes. Sarah J. Maas. I have not read any of her books 😅 Glad to hear you enjoy them though! And I'll definitely be checking out those contemporaries you mentioned! They sound fun!

Oooh you have a nice range of books! How was Darkfever? I had that book on my tbr FOREVER but have never gotten to it 😅

message 25: by Laura (new)

Laura ☾ | 861 comments @Heather I think my favourites this month were All My Rage and Gallant!

@Lili Darkfever was quite average but several people have assured me that like many series in that genre it really gets going a couple books in so let’s see!

message 26: by Liliana, YA Paranormal Lover (new)

Liliana (lililostinabook) | 2878 comments Mod
Oh I see! So you'll stick with the series then? Hopefully it does get better!

message 28: by HeatherH (new)

HeatherH (bkwrm85) | 802 comments That makes me SO EXCITED! Tahir and Schwab are two of my absolute faves and both of those are on my April hopeful tbr! Gallant is up as soon as I get through Dead Silence!

Looks like a pretty great month!

I loved the Fever series, at least the original 5 anyway. I havent read all the rest only 6 and 7 I think. But I went to the huge release party for book 6 in NOLA with a group of people from goodreads. I think its worth continuing, book 1 was rough for a lot of people.

How was Here's to Us? I was kind of surprised a second book came out.
And did you actually get through all of The Art of War?! How was it?

message 31: by Laura (new)

Laura ☾ | 861 comments Fair enough for Darkfever!

Honestly, here’s to us didn’t really live up to the first book!

For The Art of War the ‘classics version is only about 300ish pages!

message 32: by Brittany (new)

Brittany | 6358 comments Mod
Only being around 300 pages would make reading Art of War much easier.

Good to know about Heres to Us, I probably wont bother then

message 33: by Laura (new)

Laura ☾ | 861 comments Honestly I’d say it’s fine to just see What if It’s us as a standalone!

And yes for sure for The Art of War!

That’s fair! To be honest I’m in the middle - I wasn’t outraged but somehow I wasn’t that into the book either!

Which series is your favourite of JLA’s?

message 39: by Kayleigh {K-Books}, YA Fantasy Fan (new)

Kayleigh {K-Books} (kayley_12) | 2261 comments Mod
Covenant Series and Harbinger Series are my two favourites. Both are YA but can be considered quite upper YA. I personally think her paranormal romance series are much better than her epic fantasy, though I do prefer the Blood and Ash prequel more than the main series.

message 41: by Jo (new)

Jo Elliott | 1826 comments How did you find Ariadne? And The Nightingale?

message 42: by Laura (new)

Laura ☾ | 861 comments I really enjoyed The Nightingale!

For Ariadne, it felt like something was missing. It wasn't bad but it didn't quite hold my attention either!

message 43: by Jo (new)

Jo Elliott | 1826 comments That's a shame about Ariadne, to be honest, I was kind of feeling the same way before I put it down, but I thought that was more due to my reading slump than anything else! Oh well, we'll see if I go back to it or not.

Glad to hear you enjoyed The Nightingale though!

I really enjoyed the Henna Artist! I think that and the Nightingale might have been my favourites for the month!
