Rossy (naughtybookjunkie) | 57 comments I think having all the books released by an author for a series would be a big plus. While i understand not having all the books at the same time, selling the books out of order makes no sense to me.

Why would i want to buy book 3 and 4 if i cannot find 1 and 2 on ebook? Case in point Kate Angell's Richmond Rogues series. The last 2 books in the series are being sold but not the older 2 releases.

Olivia Baumgarten (oliveoyl) | 4 comments Lately all of the books that I have most wanted to read have been unavailable in the Mobipocket versions. I did quite a search re e-book readers before settling on my Cybook and it is disappointing to find that so many of the books that I would like to read are simply not available as Mobipocket. Anyone know of a way to convert one of the other versions without too much difficulty?

I agree completely with you! That happens sometimes because the distributors only release certain books for us to sell which don't always include complete series. Keep checking back though because we may have them later!

For non-DRm files, Calibre is an easy software to use to convert files. You choose the device you are formatting for and it exports the correct format. I do not believe this works with DRM (encrypted) protected files though.

Marisa (moretta) No, with protected files Caliber doesn't work. I'm afraid that publishers are leaving Mobipocket because Amazon is the company owner.

Gisela (chicadorlando) Better search and browse capabilities. Sometimes I don't have a specific book in mind but know that I want to read a young adult fantasy (for example) but I have to browse the entire young adult category or the fantasy category to find something. So maybe better tags? or a search using tags like epic fantasy or urban fantasy?

Oh i sooo agree with you. The tags sometimes kills me when i can't find something i know for sure should be on the gay section, then i find it on erotica? Seriously we need better tags for books!
Another recent thing is the search for a particular author on the site. I sometimes type the authors name and i know i spelled it right because i just copy paste, but nothing comes out. Then i go through the tag list and imagine what i find?! Yeap, the author's book i wanted.

Maria (maria63303) What would make me buy more books at your site is more formats being available. If your competition such as (Fictionwise) can offer books in multiformat and not just that dreaded Adobe Digital....why can't you? I've seen books I want on your site but I won't buy books in Adobe Digital because I hate it!

We offer MSReader Mobi and eReader also, as well as two Audio formats WMA and MP3. If you are referring to non-DRM files which allow conversion of formats, we do offer some non-DRM. Our titles are sourced from ACS4 servers and come with the publisher DRM in place. ADE formats are often released first for at title, but we do get the other formats as soon as the distributor makes them available. Thanks!

January (januaryf) I've only had my reader since Christmas, but so far BoB is my go-to spot for shopping for books. I love the rewards program - feel like I'm saving up for a rainy day. I do have some suggestions/requests for the site...

I'd like to be able to share my wishlist with family. Giving the gift of paper books was so easy, the gift of ebooks, not so much.

I second the sub-categories. The lists are just way too high level for satisfying browsing.

I would also like to be able to set some preferences - show me a list always, and not the book covers for example. This would be great for me, especially when looking at a specific author's listing.

Thanks for asking,
January

January (januaryf) Oops - just thought of something else, kind of goes along with the wishlist item. It would be great if someone could buy a gift certificate without having to create an account. I'm the only one in my extended family with a reader, and I'm sure the rest don't want to have to create accounts just to buy me a gift.

message 13: by Gisela (new)

Gisela (chicadorlando) It would be great if I could create a list with my favorite author/series and be notified whenever there was something new by that author and in my preferred format. For example for a book that was previously available in other formats but not epub I would like to receive an email as soon as it was available. Or create customizable views

The only author i can recall at the moment is Carol Lynne. I culdn't find her books without browsing.

January (januaryf) OK - this isn't really a feature, but it would improve my comfort level with using the site...

I updated my account password today, and was very concerned when I received an email with my password spelled out in it. This seems like a very risky email for your system to be sending, and I am not very comfortable with having my password communicated so freely.

Other sites will send an email, but instead of repeating the password they simply say 'you changed it, call us if you didn't'. I would feel much "safer" with that kind of response.

And yes, I might be being paranoid here... :)

message 17: by January (new)

January (januaryf) Oh - the other thing is that I would love it if you could include the geographic restrictions on the ebooks. I don't like thinking I can buy a book, and then be denied when I try to finalize payment.

You mean add the restrictions to the descriptions? I agree, it would avoid many headaches and disappointment.

That's exactly what I mean. I went to fictionwise.com for the book I was denied (I didn't buy it), and they have the restrictions listed along with the format ISBNs.

I'm in Canada, and geo. restrictions are usually non-existent. It was surprising that I couldn't buy this book at BoB.
