OKAY. FRIENDS.
I was one of those people who could not guess Amarantha's riddle in the first book.....soooooooooooo although I was SWEATING during Feyre's wedding hoping that SOMETHING was going to happen..... were you able to guess what was going to happen?!?!
I did not 😂 I was jumping up and down though haha Talk about an entrance!

For real though! I totally get that! Tim (our second moderator) made a good point to me earlier today that I am sure he will share later (he is currently traveling), but he made it to chapter 11 and said he feels Tamlin has a desire to protect Feyre, while Rhysand is more encouraging her to learn tools to protect herself. Which I thought was an interesting comparison. It kind of allows room to grow rather than being saved kind of?? All interesting views!

and yeah, I also figured she knew it was Rhys. like "somebody save me", yeah, yeah, just say who you mean 🙄😂

they're both protectors, but it feels like one suffocates her, while the other tries to set her free.
or maybe I have too much free time and think about this way too much 😂

Yes! Love this analysis!

Rhys was really like "Am I the drama?" with his entrance.

Love that take! The fear of change or even the desperation for normalcy after a traumatic event is very real. I’m loving the complexity of all these characters! And you all are bringing up some unique points and perspectives I hadn’t pondered the first time around 🧐

If I am being completely honest, Tamlin is sort of reminding me of his description of his father. I also disagree with the Tamlin seeing Feyre as defenseless! I think he knows that Feyre is strong. But his pride was injured when this human girl that he was intent on using to get back his power was able to fight against Amaranth head on when all he did was bow his head. After finishing this book you can definitely see the signs in ACOTAR which is insane!
Anyways back to his view of Feyre. I think deep down he never loved her. The goal was to have Feyre fall for him not the other way around. Between the guilt of sending his men out to be murdered and the anger of having to put his fate in the hands of a human girl who killed one of his friends and the jealously/broken pride of this girl who was supposed to be a tool to him save him from Amaranths hands. It was easier to say he loved her, to her and to himself.
Feyre might have loved him but not fully I dont think. I think it was the idea of getting away from her boring life where no one appreciated her. Looking back there was more spark between her and the Suriel then her and Tamlin.
I have only finished up to the second book so i dont know if i sound stupid or not lol.
EDIT: IF YOU THINK ABOUT IT Tamlin doesn't see anyone as people. Everyone he has interacted with has 1)served as bait or 2)were strong enough to make his court(?) seem stronger (Lucian) or 3) used to further his own scheme (Ianthe, Feyre)
he doesnt see his subjects as subjects either (tithe) just as people who he can prove his strength to

There are highly complex character arcs in this book with many triggers. Please be kind to all opinions as there is not one right answer. As readers we all support each other! 🤍
I can't wait to hear your thoughts and how they develop as we follow Feyre's journey!
