Following the success of Watchers, published in 1987, Dean Koontz readers were treated to a new book titled Lightning in 1988. Although not a well-known as Watchers, Lightning offers science fiction fans a novel that still shines brightly among time travel novels.

This classic will be featured during the Summer of 2022 as a Koontzland -Dean Koontz Group Read (end of May through beginning of September).

It's up to each person individually. Are you going to read all the books? Which one are you interested in reading first? I haven't started reading any of them, but plan to read them all. I was originally thinking I'd start with the oldest (Watchers) and work my way to Jane Hawk, but I'm open to starting anywhere.
Let me know and I'll get that one in my personal reading que so you'll have at least one other person at the same time.
By posting here, it might encourage others to join in.
Thank you Vonda!

Vonda (vondamikesell) | 46 comments Thanks DTWCLBO, and by the way, your name makes me chuckle. So... I'm torn between Lightening and Frankenstein, but I want to read Watchers before Lightening,. so I am going to start with Frankenstein. I remember it very fondly.

Thank you Vonda. Sometimes I think my nick name might be a bit much. It started because soon after joining goodreads, I was in discussions with a friend named Dustin and I needed something to differentiate us because I was getting really confused about replying to myself. That's when I became Crazy Little Brown Owl. A couple of years ago, I added "in the wind" (which might be just a bit too much).

There are Five books in the Frankenstein Series. Here's the Summer 2022 Discussion Thread for book one, Prodigal Son: /topic/show/...
Post in that thread about when you're thinking of starting and I'll make it a priority. I do audiobooks so I can get through the books pretty quick. I've just got to put the audiobook on my MP3 Player.
Thanks again.

Kateblue I've got three more books to read in other groups and then I am starting through all of these. I'm excited

Kateblue, which Dean Koontz title are you planning to start with?

Kateblue I'm going to start with the Frankenstein books, I think. Then after that, the Jane Hawk Series. That's because I have not any of read them before and I have read Watchers (and love it!!) and I'm sure I've also read Lightning even though I don't remember it.

Vonda has already started reading Prodigal Son and I plan to catch up with her by next week.
Thanks Kateblue!

Mary (broomemarygmailcom) | 377 comments I have not been so excited to read a Koontz book in a long time BUT my heart is beating fast as I open Lightning!

BTW I just finished the Inspector Gamache series by Louise Penny. (17 books to be exact since mid-February. ) She is Canadian and the stories are mostly set in Quebec. I loved every book---the stories, characters, their development, and the settings are amazing. Anyway, excellent books and I feel so sad that I have finished them all. I will miss all my new friends and the cultural and moral dilemmas they must face. These are presented in an intelligent, thoughtful, and personal manner.

So in my sadness, I turn to and am excited to find Lightning.

Thanks for the recommend. I am binge-reading the Joe Pickett series by C.J. Box, which is fabulous. But I am glad to have another to think about for my next mystery binge
