I started this a few days ago, and so far I am not entirely sure if it is a serious "horror" book or not. There's a jest-like feel to it, almost if some characters are comical interpretations of themselves :O
I agree with you that the beginning gives the impression we are reading a comic book. But it will become more serious/scary as you go. Can not say that this book kept me awake at night (not like IT by Stephen King or The Shining), but I found it was a good book after all. I am curious to talk with you about the ending...:-)
