jeliy | 388 comments I'm questioning the numbering of the following book as 0.5 in the Black Dagger Brotherhood Series.

I've checked the author's website and the reading order of BDB series is not complete. Darius is not included on the site.

Many sites label this book as a "prequel" to the BDB series which is in error. I have read the series to date and this book would be better numbered as 20.5 in publication order. Or at the very least numbered 12.5.

Darius contains many spoilers for books 01-12. The epilogue of the book also ends in the present day, so reading the books in publication order is best.

Jonetta (ejaygirl) | 88 comments jelly, there is a pretty active group for the series here on Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ. There’s a lot more background covered there and this question would be more appropriate within that community as neither the author or publisher has provided guidance. This was released in audio format only for specific reasons and the print and eBook versions aren’t due for a few months.

I’ve listened to the story and feel quite opposite. Here’s the link to the group:

I am comfortable with this being listed as prequel. Author J.R. Ward herself referred to it as " origin story" in interview with Jim Frangione.

Jonetta (ejaygirl) | 88 comments I agree L J.

The reason I placed the OP in the librarian's group is they are the only ones to be able to edit books presently. I first addressed the issue in "GR contact us" and was directed to place it in this group.

I do thank all who responded and for the group link given!

Jonetta (ejaygirl) | 88 comments jellie, I directed you to that group for consultative input, not to edit the list. There’s considerable justification to keep the book numbered as is and that group is a great resource for input about whether or not to change the series numbering in the absence of direction from the author. It’s a BIG deal!
