Kate S | 6459 comments Read a book that is part of a series*.

*For the purposes of RwS, a series should include at least three books. Sometimes a story is complete in two volumes, and those we don't consider a series. If there are only two published books and it is clear the author plans to continue the story, those would be a series.

Please post any questions or comments about task 10.4 in this thread.

Rebekah (bekalynn) Does a series have to have all books written by the same author? Its not specified in the task description.
The 39 clues series has many authors ie Rick Riordan, Peter Lerangis, Margaret Peterson Haddix, Patrick Carman. Jude Watson, Gordon Korman, David Baldacci, Linda Sue Park, etc..

Then there is the Canongate’s myth series that includes The Penelopiad by Margaret Atwood, The Goddess Chronicle by Natsuo Kirino and Weight: The Myth of Atlas and Heracles by Jeanette Winterson

Then there are series begun by one author and after death it is continued by another author ; /series/4075... the series was written by Tony Hillerman and continued by his daughter Ann Hillerman
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo series was first written by Stieg Larsson, but after his death continued by David Lagercrantz
A famous series is the James Bond series, which had authorized authors to write more books after Fleming’s death such as John Gardner, Sebastian Faulks, Kingsley Amis, William Boyd and more

Looking up the definition of book series, this is the definition I got;
“Book series
A book series is a sequence of books having certain characteristics in common that are formally identified together as a group. Book series can be organized in different ways, such as written by the same author, or marketed as a group by their publisher.

also at these sites - ,
The last paragraph on this page names the American Girl Series and the Dear America series.

So did Ed mean specifically the stories in a series have to be written by only one author?
