November's story is The Dead by James Joyce found in the collection Dubliners.
A depiction of middle class life in Dublin, Ireland in the early twentieth century, the story centres on Gabriel Conroy, a teacher and part-time book reviewer, and explores the relationships he has with his family and friends.

John R I've just started Dubliners; no matter how many times I read this, I never tire of it.

Chad | 860 comments I’m going to finally read The Dubliners. I think that I did read it in my school days but I recall nothing.

John R I've just finished Dubliners, and I think I enjoy it more every time I read it, and I particularly like our focus story - The Dead.

The characters in the various stories feel so real, and so many of the places and settings are real and recognisable, that you forget that this is fiction.

Joyce didn't write a lot - but everything he wrote was magnificent.
