Today is the big day (Well yesterday technically)!! Can’t wait to crack it open, might cause me to do a complete reread.

Love Kindle Unlimited me :) Can't wait to read this one and find out the rest of the story :)

I didn't get far last night. Only through Ch 2 :) Still nice to see these characters again. I'd forgotten the ending of Dreadgod and had to go refresh. Dreadgod ended in classic Dragonball finale fashion... team wasn't strong enough, yet, so they setup a pocket dimension where they can do a bunch more training in isolation, and return and save the day... (I wrote that more as a summation of Dragonball plotlines than Cradle, but it's pretty on point)... (view spoiler)[the end of Dreadgod was about reclaiming the Monarch's daughter to their team, after a whole book of isolation & manipulation... did so by revealing the secret link between monarchs and Dreadgods, and why Dreadgods are unkillable...

Presumably half the plan for Waybound is to force all the monarchs to leave Cradle, but at the same time, I think Lindon's devouring arm / labyrinth connection might already be enough to claim the power of all the Dreadgods for himself, in the end, honestly... (hide spoiler)]

Just finished my other book and started this one...

25% in, chapter 11... plenty of training, and some crazy combat... everything we love from this series... (view spoiler)[seeing Lindon overcome Reigan Shen's best hail mary defenses (Abaddon shield), beat Northstrider in a dual (Dross for the win), slowly subborn Akura Charity with truth bombs...

Things still aren't easy... somehow :D

Even as strong as Lindon is, it's hard to fight above your weight class without breaks... but, for now, he's managing all this solo... once he gets his allies on an almost-even playing field, the sky is the limit...

Summoning that Shade of Ozmanthius was pretty awesome... and I can't wait to find out what Zeal secret Icon is :D (hide spoiler)]

Yes, dittoing that and THANK you, Iain! I just got my hands on my copy, though it'll be a bit (book four or five in my current eyeball line up) before I get to it, but I was thinking darnit but I don't remember a thing of where we left off... really needed that refresher...

Ch 5 (view spoiler)[Ahh Eithan, there is truly no other like you :) Such a poke at Makiel by hiding his weapon literally under old Makiel's nose lol I'm guessing that giving him the scythe is part of the plan and won't go as Makiel intends.

Again Lindon is underestimated. Good. Shen is too full of himself. (hide spoiler)]

All finished... it was awesome... the story honestly kinda wraps up, for the most part, around chapter 30... the last 5 chapters give a glimpse of the cosmos, and potential things to come in a sequel series, and wraps up some loose ends...

Wight had WAY too much fun with the bloopers :D

The book ends on a "cliffhanger"... literally, Yerin hanging off a cliff for no reason, and Lindon explaining why you don't end a series that way :D

Also, I really want to read Eithan's biography: From Conditioner to Executioner: A Tale of Hairspray and Sprays of Blood...

(view spoiler)[the fight with Malice felt kinda anti-climactic, when the ending came... I dunno... I guess I knew not everyone could be talked around, but it went from one extreme to the other pretty quick...

I loved Mercy's Herald transformation, tho... laughed out loud when THAT was anti-climactic... totally saw it coming, given her recent realizations... and the looks her friends gave her :D (hide spoiler)]

Made it through chapter 19...

(view spoiler)[ The gauntlet that Lindon had to go through in the past chapters was crazy and epic, but at the same time a bit hard to believe even for Cradle. It shows how true it is when they say that he is at the level of a near Dreadgod, as he definitely acts like one during these battles, but it was also apt that he passes out after completely draining himself.

I also like how that fact opened the door for the others to each play their role in taking down the Weeping Dragon. An interesting thing that resonated with me once I forced myself to take a break was that no matter who your favorite character is, and honestly who can pick just one, they are currently showing how badass they are, and at the same time they are left on their last leg with enemies still waiting in the wings. Just shows the intensity that Wight has created here and I am loving it. Good for you Ziel getting a double dose of redemption! (hide spoiler)]

OMG that sounds AMAZING... I may have to cut this to the front of the line when I finish my current read...

Chapter 22 and had to stop to comment�(view spoiler)[ Not sure if it was my impression but I got a big reversal of roles feeling from the chapter. Both with the way he spoke with the team and the interaction with Northstrider, Lindon seems to be taking on the antagonist like role and the monarchs seemed to be the scrappy underdogs trying desperately to do something. It is not completely happening, but couldn’t get it out of my mind while reading. Wonder how much this will continue moving forward? (hide spoiler)]

You're not wrong... (view spoiler)[after the defeat of the 2nd Dreadgod (including the one from the previous book), there's a definite shift, as Lindon has to worry about controlling his hunger madra, and being subsumed by the whims of the mindless Dreadgods he's consumed... (hide spoiler)]

Finished the book after a marathon reading session into the wee hours of the morning :)

Satisfied with the way the series ended, but not completely satisfied with the ending on a large scale... (view spoiler)[ it could be due to the potential for a Abidan/Reapers spin-off series and needing to set the foundation for what will happen, but as I was reading I felt that the main cast was fitting nicely into the roles of the current judges. I did like the elite group of Reapers conclusion, which does fit them as a whole, taking on impossibly powerful monsters and keeping unruly elites in order, but it just felt like their could have been more to their role.

While I am on the critical role, I also found that Lindon's punishment with becoming the Dreadgod was not as powerful as potentially it could be. Two years away from the crew was likely torture, but he really just had to hang out until it faded and still got to be a badass. (especially liked the revenge battle with Li Markuth!)

I think this all really just boils down to me wishing there was more Cradle, can you really blame me for that? :)

I did really love the other worlds the Reapers visited and the potential for so many spin-offs, or more likely, ideas that didn't completely manifest into books. (hide spoiler)]

There's definitely alot riding on the expectation of 1-2 sequel series to this, down the line...

I know Wight wants to write new stuff, for the next few years... some fans actually think the space wizard series is actually set on another Abidan World... there was a world mentioned in one of the previous Abidan chapters that would work, but I dunno...

You summarized my thoughts here perfectly. (view spoiler)[My only addition is Yerin attempting to have heart to hearts with her team mates is also heart warming :)

Now we get to see how the other slow Shen down long enough for Lindon to get back. Or maybe pull off an impossible victory of their own. This book seems to be about underestimating those that you deem weaker than yourself. Which is also a series theme now that I think about it. (hide spoiler)]

I waited to read Dreadgod in anticipation of Waybound's release.

I'm wondering, however, if I should reread Reaper first.

It's interesting how much love/hate there is for this series in the reviews... some people like this kind of story, others clearly don't (and some of those that don't, read them all anyway... one guy has rated most of the series 2 star,s, and read all 12)

Ch 16 (view spoiler)[I am blown away by Orthos and Little Blue. Their progression is astonishing.

I loved the battles Yerin, Ziel and Mercy had helping Clan Aurelius out against Shen's armies. Shen needs a lesson in humility and seems he's getting it in spades. The Oracle of the Thousand Eyes is impressive. (hide spoiler)]

Why would anyone bother to read all 12 books if they're only 2 stars? That's so weird. Surely they have better things to do than waste time on something they don't like.

I think you'll be fine with only reading Dreadgod unless you don't remember where Reaper ended, which could cause confusion with the beginning of Dreadgod.

I don't remember.

I reread my review, and it seems I struggled through Reaper. So, I probably focused mainly on finishing the book. It also appears that I liked the ending. I just don't remember it at all.

I binge read last night. Through Ch 27 :) (view spoiler)[O M G! Everyone has a Dross!!!! I love it lol I wonder if their personalities will diverge over time as they customize to their hosts. That's going to be fun to explore in a sequel series. The power of 6 Dross's working in unison is only going to get better and better. I mean he acted as a presence for the Malice battle.

I feel bad that the team had to kill Malice. She'd have been such a benefit to the Abidan but... At least they got Northstrider to ascend. I think they'll have to kill Shen. I don't see a problem with Emriss or the Eight Man Empire.

Eithan is going to be sow proud how everyone is taking aspects of him into themselves as his disciples. Nice that Yerin hit Monarch with the Death Icon and Reaper-like technique. Mercy is about manifest the Joy Icon. Wasn't that one of Eithan's personal goals? Lindon needs no explanation with how far he's grown and that he's living Eithan's crusade to bring all his friends up together as a team. Zeil's going to get his with his mastery of time I'm sure. Eithan better survive long enough to see everyone ascend since I'm 99.9% confident the team will work out how to get around Lindon's current issue.

What's funny is that while the book definitely needs more Eithan, I get irritated when we switch to the Abidan for a few pages because I want to keep reading about the events on Cradle lol (hide spoiler)]


I am loving this book so much.

Finished. I think it was a fitting end to the series. (view spoiler)[I laughed so hard in many places. I mean Lindon brought along the whole freaking Labyrinth for crying out loud lol Loved the reunion with Fury and where all the characters ended up. It's a great set up for the sequel series. And even if Wight opts not to write it, I'm ok. Lindon & Yerin got a HEA!

Fury's joke that Eithan will turn the Crypt into the shape of a hairbrush lol OMG yep, that's very Eithan. (hide spoiler)]

I just started and as Narilka said, I had forgotten the ending of the previous book, so it felt a bit disorienting in that immediate battle with The Mad King... Iain, thank you for the refresher!:)))

Up to Ch. 17... Wow! A whole lot of training and a whole lot of battle! Full throttle all the way so far... (view spoiler)[ I was surprised how relatively easily Lindon took down Northstrider and is able to handle Reigan Shen's attacks... I know he is on the brink of complete exhaustion, but as you guys mentioned, he is really fighting Up, and it's amazing he is surviving...

Little Blue and Orthos are so absolutely awesome! And she can talk now, mostly! Yay! And Orthos has a human form now as well:)))!

Everyone on our team is just a badass! And I chuckled quite a bit when Lindon was all happy to give Yerin that construct, and her inner monologue was like "shouldn't it be jewelry?! this is not romantic!"... Hahaha! Since we don't really think of either one of them as romantic at all...

Finally jumping in! So excited!! A little bummed I didn't jump in during the big book rush, but I've got so many juicy spoilers to look forward to...

Feeling the same as @Narilka--very thankful for Iain's Dragonballesque summary, but still kinda wanting to go read the ending of Dreadgod again...

OK, I went and read the ending for a refresher... Ending recap: (view spoiler)[After defeating (and consuming) the Silent King, Lindon, Yerin, Ziel, Little Blue, Orthos, and of course Dross are bouncing all over the world (using the Labyrinth) to steal collect uber goodies from all the Monarchs to speed up their advancement. But before they can enter the pocket dimension and do so, they have one last thing to collect: Mercy, who is under house arrest. They leaked to Mercy hints of what is going on with the Monarchs & Dreadgods, but Mercy doesn't know what to believe... though she's leaning Lindon. Epic battle ensues, Mercy opens to the last page of her book to escape the pocket Malice tucked her in and does damage to her madra, Charity shows up to try to stop them leaving but seems torn over which side to support, and is pretty overmatched anyway. The team escapes with Mercy, Malice declares Lindon a new Dreadgod, and the story ends right as Lindon sets up the pocket training 'verse. (hide spoiler)]

Not that anyone needed that 'cuz I'm probably the last one to this party, but still!
