Rules for the Spring/Summer 2015 Challenge:
1. This challenge will start March 1, 2015 (12:01 am EST) and will end at 11:59 pm on August 31, 2015.
2. All books read during the challenge dates, March through August, can count towards tasks. So, if you join in June, anything you read that FITS a task can count towards the challenge as long as you read it AFTER March 1st. If you are less than half way through a book BEFORE the challenge starts, you can use it for the challenge. If you are over the halfway point, you cannot use it for the challenge.
3. Books can only be used for one category.
4. Re-reads are fine, except where stated otherwise.
5. All books should be over 150 pages unless otherwise stated. If you read a book that is not quite 150 pages, please make sure that it for a lower point task and you are only able to read an "under 150 pages book" once. Please get an "ok" from us before you try and count an "under 150 pages book" for a task. The only exception is the Children's Book task. We will allow that one to be 100 pages.
6. To claim your points, you must post completed tasks in the "Leaderboard & Completed Tasks" thread. Please include the title, author, the task number it was for, and your total number of points to date. You can update your task list but we will not be checking those for your points. That is just for your records only.
7. If you have any doubts as to whether a book fits a particular challenge, please feel free to ask.
8. Above all, remember this challenge is supposed to be FUN, a good way to tackle some of your TBR list, and to expand your horizons.
9. Those that finish/win the challenge will be able to pick a task for the Fall/Winter 2014-2015 Challenge.
10. Most Important: HAVE FUN!

5 points: Totally 80’s

1. Passion for Posters: The kids in the 80’s (and before and after) decorated their rooms by hanging posters all over the walls. Read a book that is about something you used to decorate your room when you were younger, or is reminiscent somehow of your bedroom décor. I was a bit unusual as a pre-teen/teen and my walls were covered with Elvis and Mustangs. So I could read Elvis and Me or Shelby Mustang

2. Sticker Books: Read a book about something you would collect or has some type of collectible item on the cover.

3. Pac-Man, Frogger and Pong: The age of videogames: Read a book where a game is on the cover, a gamer is who the story is about, or a book based on a character in a video game or the game itself.

4. Movies: Read a book that is similar to the plot of one of these movies or has a cover similar to the movie poster shown. This can be loosely interpreted. For Example: Footloose, can be a story about small minded small towns, or Goonies, a story about kids on an adventure without their parents.

5. The Clapper: A device that lets you clap the lights on and off: Read a book about an invention that probably isn’t life changing, has said invention on the cover, or is about an inventor of some sort.

6. Wrestle Mania to Skating Rinks: Read a book about a sport that isn’t main stream or about an athlete that plays or played that sport. It can be fictional.

7. I Want My MTV: Read a book that is mentioned in a song, or had the title to a song in its title. Post the song along with the book when you claim the points. Any genre is acceptable.

8. Published Date: Read a book that was originally published in the 1980’s.

3. April Showers bring May Flowers: Read a book about blossoming love or with a flower on the cover.

4. Laughter is the best medicine: Read a book that is funny or about a comedian.

5. Attention Grabber: Read a book with a great first line. Post the first line when you claim your points. Lists to help: or /list/show/7... or /topic/show/...

20 points

1. Group Read: Read a past group read OR a group read that happens during one of the months of this challenge AND post to the discussion thread what you thought about the book.

2. Fall/Winter Challenge Winner Mickslibrarian challenge: 2015 is a very good year.
I was inspired by the talk recently about the Selma March, and how anniversaries in general spark dueling thoughts - what would it have been like to be there, and what would people who were there think about our world now? However, in literature, it's more about focusing on that which endures. So in honor of 2015, read two books from the choices below: (Each book from a different choice.)

a. J.K. Rowling was born July 31, 1965. Read any book written by her (or her pseudonym).

b. The Alfred A. Knopf publishing house was founded in 1915 and is now part of the Knopf Doubleday Publishing Group. Read any book published by Knopf.

c. Alice in Wonderland was published in 1865. Read the original book or any sequels, spin-offs, or retellings. If not obvious in the ŷ description, please explain the connection. This is a good sight for suggestions: ...

d. Emma was published in 1815. Read any book by Jane Austen or any book from this list: /shelf/show/....

25 points: (2 book challenges)

1. Spring Cleaning: Read 2 books that have been cluttering up your TBR shelf, or the next 2 books in a series you have started and haven’t finished.

2. May the 4th be with you: Star Wars Day: A long, long time ago in a galaxy far, far away.... Read a book set somewhere far from where you live, and read a book set back at least 50 years ago.

3. Mother’s and Father’s Day:
Book 1: Read a book about a mother, has mom or mother in the title, or has a picture of a mother and child on the cover. (any synonym for mother will work in title)
Book 2: Read a book about a father, has dad or father in the title, or has a picture of a father and child on the cover. (any synonym for father will work in title)

4. Birth Month and Order:
Book 1: Read a book by an author that shares your month of birth.
Book 2: Read a book that coincides with your birth order. Example, I am second of 4 kids, so I would read the second book of a series (Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets) or the second book an author released('Salem's Lot).

5. Awareness: Go to and pick 2 colors. Read 1 book for each color. The book will have that color on the cover or be about the thing that color represents. Example: If you picked Pink and Yellow, you could read a book that has Pink on the cover, and a book about war or veterans.

6. Health Craze: When you diet, you have to decide between sweet deliciousness that offers no nutritional value or super healthy food you probably really don’t want to eat.
Book 1: Read a book that is a fluff, fun read without major enlightenment
Book 2: Read a book that is considered to be informational and/or inspiring.

7. Choose your own Adventure: Remember those books from your childhood?
Book 1: Read a book about something you have always wanted to try (surfing, traveling, cooking, teaching, etc.)
Book 2: Read a book about something you have never really been interested in trying and see if it changes you attitude.

8. These are a few of my Favorite Things:
Book 1: Read a book by your favorite author.
Book 2: Read a book in your favorite genre.
