Hello and welcome to another reading wrap up! As a reminder, this year I’ve decided to partake in the PopSugar Reading Challenge, which is a set of 50 prompts which you read a book to match, so I’ll be including those prompts and my progress in these wrap ups. For more info check this website: . I’ve officially completed the 2022 Popsugar Challenge and met my reading goal of 65 books! How’d you do with your reading goals this year? Now onto the Wrap Up!
This month I read
The Book of Lost Names by Kristin Harmel Overall this one was pretty good. I’ve learned recently France has a way more interesting role in WWII than I realized and I’ve enjoyed learning about it from historical fiction; this isn’t the first book I’ve read set in France in this era. I didn’t really like the ending of this one though, I’m not sure why. It was still worth the read and the romance was really cute. This was for the Popsugar Prompt: A book about someone leading a double life
Garden Spells by Sarah Addison Allen I really liked this one. Interesting characters and story and Allen does a wonderful job with the magical realism. I was definitely swept up in the lore, story, and magic of this book. This is only the second book I’ve read by Allen and I may need to add more to my TBR. This was for the Popsugar Prompt: A duology (1)
First Frost by Sarah Addison Allen This is the second in the Waverley Family Series. I didn’t like this as much as the first one, but still got swept up as I did with the first. It helped that I already really enjoyed the characters and were invested in them after the first book. This was for the Popsugar Prompt: A duology (2)
A Princess for Christmas by Jenny Holiday My favorite kind of Christmas Read, cute and fluffy. I really enjoyed the Hallmark-ness of the story and the fact that it was able to poke a little fun at it as well. If cheesy romance is something you enjoy, this will be a winner. This was for the Popsugar Prompt: A book that takes place during your favorite season
Duke, Actually by Jenny Holiday This is the second in the Christmas in Eldovia series and I think I liked it better than the first. The romance was a lot stronger than the first even though it was a lot more of a slow burn. The fact that it had big time jumps quite a bit made it a little confusing, but overall it was still really good. This was for the Popsugar Prompt: A book set during a holiday
Equal of the Sun by Anita Amirrezvani I listened to this on Audio. This one was not my favorite. For one I felt a little misled as I didn’t realize it was going from the perspective of a male advisor to the princess and not the princess herself, so that threw me off from the start. This book does have some interesting history behind it and I enjoyed learning about the real Iranian Princess Pari. She was a central part of the story, but since it was from the male advisors POV it didn’t feel like it was as much about her as it could have been. The writing style, while it fit the story, didn’t really click with me either.
