Diana Hryniuk | 828 comments What an amazing story! Surprisingly, I wasn't very excited to start reading this book, but now I realize I was completely wrong about it.

I really liked how the story was told from the main character's point of view. It felt so real to me. It wasn't like a filtered diary, but rather the honest thoughts of a determined teenager trying to change their life.

The story had a perfect mix of sad and funny moments. It introduced a variety of characters, some mean and others kind-hearted. Love, friendship, suffering, and even death were all part of it, making it feel true to life. I think anyone who has been a teenager can relate to at least a few things in this story.

NancyJ (nancyjjj) | 10588 comments I’m so glad you liked it. I hesitated to read it too. It was on (and off) my tbr a few times before I finally tried it. It was a very enjoyable read. I thought some of his friends in the new school were almost too nice. We’re so accustomed to stories with bullies (often in groups of three boys), I was surprised when two of his new friends showed that he had underestimated them. I think his humor won everyone over.
