With May over it’s time another Monthly Reading Wrap Up! I had a little bit of a slow down this month (and two of the books I read were 600+ pages, haha) so I only have three books for this month. And don’t forget our Summer Reading Program has officially kicked off! Check out the link below for more information.

I read

The Hawthorne Legacy by Jennifer Lynn Barnes- I listened to this book on audio. I’m glad I continued this series. I’m not super into the characters, but the mystery and the puzzles they have to solve definitely kept this book interesting. It’s hard not to be invested in the puzzle of it all, so the mystery aspect is well written and fleshed out. I’m excited to see where this goes in the next book.

A Court of Mist and Fury and A Court of Wings and Ruin by Sarah J. Mass- I deep dived into these two after reading ACOTAR last month. Both were excellent reads that I enjoyed and I’m glad I finally got around to this series. As the series went on I will say I got less invested in Feyre and Rhys (the main characters) and more invested in the side characters. Particularly Feyre’s sisters, book 4 luckily centers around one of them. The romance between Feyre and Rhys definitely got a little stale for me towards the end too, mainly in the third book. Plot wise, I need Sara J. Mass to stop shoving so much at the end of her books, lol. I didn’t feel like there were major issues with pacing or plot and the earlier portions of the books weren’t boring by any means, but so much happens in the last 100 pages of these 600+ page books it’s crazy. That did keep me invested though and definitely made sure I was grabbing for the next volume to see what happened next the second I finished the first two in the series.

What did you read this month? Be sure to share down below!

Happy Reading!

Casey Cool | 10 comments You should check out the Book Talk for Book Tok podcast. They examine the ACOTAR series from different perspectives. There is a ton of symbolism and hints towards her other works that I didn't catch onto until I listened to them!

I haven't read any of her other series yet, but this podcast sounds interesting! Should I want until I've read other by her to avoid spoilers?

Casey Cool | 10 comments When I started listening ACOTAR was the only series I had read. They usually try to keep the information about other series in a section they call "breadcrumbs". It's at the end of every episode so you could skip it if you wanted to.

Ok, good to know! Thanks!

Cadi | 42 comments ACOTAR is definitely on my list. A friend of mine recently read them and has raved about them. I feel like it's going to be similar to when I finally read the Lunar Chronicles last year and kicked myself for waiting so long!

They are pretty fun! Since you mentioned the Lunar Chronicles I will say they are an absolute favorite of fine, so they rank higher than ACOTAR for me. But if you liked those, I'm sure you'll like ACOTAR. Didn't realize until I started reading that the first is a semi fairy tale retelling as well. haha.
