I am reading Wild by Cheryl Strayed.
Did you enjoy the book? Would you recommend it? (feel free to link to your review)
Really like it so far, although I'm only about 5 chapters in. I read another book of Cheryl Strayed's first, and really like her writing style.
Is the title appropriate for the book?
Very much so.
Can you tell us something about the book, in just one word?
Authentic.

Did you enjoy the book? Would you recommend it? I thought it was intriguing, but the format threw me off. A previous book in the series was diary format so I assumed that this would do the same and be entirely from Jezebel's perspective, not the case. Since the author didn't come from one side and tried to show all sides, I felt bad for all the characters, but was unsure of the point the author was trying to make. Reading this book and the author's note at the back just made me want to read a non-fiction book about Jezebel (and I am not a fan of non-fiction O_o), so I am not sure if I can recommend this book.
Is the title appropriate for the book? Not really, but that could be the point, as Jezebel *wants* to reign. However, very little "reigning" is done by Jezebel or even her husband.
Can you tell us something about the book, in just one word? Sporadic

Did you enjoy the book? Would you recommend it? I liked it, for a quick, exciting read. However, it wasn't as good as Divergent, the first in this series. Here's my review: /review/show...
Is the title appropriate for the book? Insurgent: rising in active revolt. So, yeah, I guess so, except they didn't do a whole lot of revolting.
Can you tell us something about the book, in just one word? Emotional

Fairest by Marissa Meyer
Did you enjoy the book? Would you recommend it? I would definitely recommend it to readers of The Lunar Chronicles and those who like fairy tale retellings.
Is the title appropriate for the book? Yes, this book sets up for the next book in the series, Winter, a Snow White retelling.
Can you tell us something about the book, in just one word? Rivalry

Dreamcatcher by Stephen King
Did you enjoy the book? Would you recommend it?
So far, yes, but I actually didn't have time to read it this week since, but I read around half of it last year and hoped I'd finish it this week, but it's unlikely.
Is the title appropriate for the book?
No? Or maybe if I finish it I'll think so.
Can you tell us something about the book, in just one word?
Aliens.

Insurgent by Veronica Roth
Did you enjoy the book? Would you recommend it? Not so much, I was angry most of the time for the decisions of the protagonist, I thought the story was too long with nothing really happening, however I would recommend it to a Divergent series fan, because it has a very important development in the story (at least at the end)
Is the title appropriate for the book? Yes
Can you tell us something about the book, in just one word? Secrets

Did you enjoy the book? Would you recommend it? (feel free to link to your review) Honestly? Not at all. It was written in an interesting way and once I got used to the Scots dialect I found it easy enough to read, but I really hated most of the characters in it. I felt no sympathy for Bruce, the main character; even at the end when you finally learnt a little about why he was the way he was, I'd spent 300 pages feeling annoyed and disgusted by him and the last hundred pages didn't really do anything to change how I felt.
Is the title appropriate for the book? Oh yes!
Can you tell us something about the book, in just one word? Ugly.

Coraline by Neil Gaiman
Did you enjoy the book? Would you recommend it? (feel free to link to your review)
Yeah, it's simple. Childish. You can't really review books like this. I mean, I don't really know what to say.
Is the title appropriate for the book?
Well, it's the name of the main charater, so yes, it is.
Can you tell us something about the book, in just one word?
Childish.

What did you read this week?
Candide by Voltaire
Did you enjoy the book? Would you recommend it? (feel free to link to your review)
I loved it. It was short, and within each page was a new story, that ties to some philosophical aspect of life. It was funny, beautiful, thoughtful, and instructional.
No review written yet.
Is the title appropriate for the book?
Well it's titled "Candide" which apparently means optimism, and towards the end the premise was to keep oneself occupied with work, so one is not bored and resort to war mongering. Not sure how that ties in with "optimism"... I guess if an individual is busy, then he/she will focus less on the negative aspects of life. I don't know.
Can you tell us something about the book, in just one word?
Greed.

I read Fluency by Jennifer Foehner Wells and a couple side reads.
Did you enjoy the book? Would you recommend it?
I liked it a lot, maybe more than I thought I would before I began. This is the author's first original novel, so aspects of it lack the polish that will come with experience, but I loved the main characters and the concept. I wouldn't recommend it to a hard SF snob, but I do recommend it to others. Good story, plenty of action.
Is the title appropriate for the book?
The main character is a linguist, so yes.

What did you read this week?
Genesis, a philosophical dystopia.
Did you enjoy the book? Would you recommend it?
Yes, I enjoyed it because it was really different in both the content and the form, with an entertaining story and a mind blowing ending.
It's short (less than 200p) so it's easy to recommend it to people who like dystopian books. It's really complete about the historical background and the building of the society so it could be interesting for people frustrated by the lack of informations in most of the dystopian books.
Is the title appropriate for the book?
Totally, it tells the story of the events that lead to the actual society.

Us by David Nicols
Did you enjoy the book? Would you recommend it? (feel free to link to your review)
Yes. It's a light read reminding me a bit of the Rosie Project and Rosie Effect but less humorous and with more of a story to it.
Is the title appropriate for the book?
Yes

Struggles

Did you enjoy the book? Would you recommend it? (feel free to link to your review) I did enjoy this book. The character would have been about the same age as my grandmother and it was interesting to read.
Is the title appropriate for the book? Yes. The book is the story of one woman.
Can you tell us something about the book, in just one word? Diary

Did you enjoy the book? Would you recommend it? (feel free to link to your review) Yes, I enjoyed it. It was okay, if you need something quick.
Is the title appropriate for the book? Yes.
Can you tell us something about the book, in just one word? Stalker.

Did you enjoy the book? Would you recommend it? (feel free to link to your review) I liked this book, but didn't love it. It needed a little work - I could tell it was a debut novel - but it had a good plot and interesting, if unlikable characters. (My blog is down right now, but I'll post my review as soon as I can).
ETA:
Is the title appropriate for the book? I guess. It doesn't really start making sense until the end of the book, but it does make sense. I just don't love the title, because it really gives you no idea about what type of book it is.
Can you tell us something about the book, in just one word? Unlikable. Not the book itself, but there seriously was not one likable character in the entire book.

Blackout by Tim Curran .

I really enjoyed it and I would definitely recommend it to other people.
Is the title appropriate for the book?
Yes.

Did you enjoy the book? Would you recommend it? Very much - it's as close to perfect as I feel a book can get. /review/show...
Is the title appropriate for the book? Very much. Like the rest of the book, it's sparse but effective.
