Ilona | 4698 comments It's time to set your 2024 goal!

How many books are you going to challenge yourself to read? Create your own discussion topic and tell us what your goal is. Then, throughout the year, track your progress.

How to create your discussion topic for your challenge:
1. Choose how many books you would like to read
2. Go to the appropriate folder:

1-25 books
26-50 books
51-75 books
76-100 books
101+ books

3. Click "new topic" near the top of the page

4. In the "topic" box, write the name of your topic. We encourage you to come up with an original title, but it should have both your name and the number of books you plan to read.
5. In the comment box, write your first post, and click “post
6. Bookmark the topic in your browser!

And you're all set! Post here if you have any questions.

Good luck to all!

You don't have to change the folder, but you certainly can if you want to.

That's strange! Maybe ŷ is glitching as everyone starts their yearly challenge?
You can also find the folders at the bottom of the group's home page.

They're working now.

Good luck, Tammy! :)

Valeria Faris | 4 comments My goal is 52 books. I tried for 50 last year, but ran a little short. bare in mind I started this goal in the summer. I finished at 48. So all in all I think I'll do well. If I make it to 52 early, I might add on to it. I do read various lengths and different age groups from children's to adult, so I hope that's okay to count them, too since they're still books.

Good luck, Valeria! Will you be making a member corner or 52 books corner?

Keri Sparks | 586 comments My goal was only going to be 60 but last year I introduced my younger sister to ŷ. Once she learned how much I read and now that she's a homeworker, she decided to beat me by reading 70. I am.....horribly competitive when it comes to reading. I am the fastest and most avid reader in my social group, and having a younger sister--who only just started to be a bookworm--make an attempt to beat me is something my pride just cannot handle. So I upped my book goal to 70 (knowing I will surpass this but not wanting her to know what my true goal is).
So she upped hers to 100.
I am secretly aiming for 104 but seriously hoping her reading steam dies out once nice weather hits.
She's currently maintaining a distance of only 11 books behind me no matter how many mangas I try to whip through to get a massive head's up.
The race is on

This is awesome :)

I've thought about getting my teenage daughter and her best friend plugged into GR, since they're both readers and we've gone book shopping together before, but then I think of them being able to see my tbr and read lists and decide that um, maybe not after all..... LOL :)

Haha! Right! Better be ready for some competition! I hadn't thought of it myself when I was encouraging people to join.

Your sister may also be planning to read more than she says if she's competitive. What a great way to get her reading more!

I love this. The best kind of motivation

thorne My goal is 55 books this year.. I've always been a book a day type of person since I was young so I set a good goal for myself. I haven't truly read in years, I'm about to hit mid 20s and haven't sat down to read in maybe 7 years .. really excited to try and accomplish this goal!!

I know!! I keep stalking her page to make sure I stay ahead. Lol.
Been a bit lucky so far. Right now her almost two-year old son is really into being read to, so my sister is sick of reading his books over and over (he can go for hours with you reading to him some days lol) and doesn't feel like reading hers by the time she can. So she has slowed down.

Right! Not what I was looking for this year though. I thought I would take it easy lol

I wish you luck! I don't know about you, but I have found that if I haven't read in awhile (seven years! Wow!) then it takes me awhile to get in the groove.
