I think I would have preferred a simple chronological telling of the story. I often think this when I'm reading time switch novels which are seemingly de rigeur at present. What do the switches add to All the light we cannot see?

I personally think it added depth to the story as it was as if the characters are looking back on themselves. It also intrigued the reader to discover what they are on about and why they are there. But I do get you annoyance if it not being in chronological order
